Happy Monday friends! I am excited to be back today to share a couple of simple and pretty projects made with new Yana’s Daisies Collection from Spellbinders (check out all of the April collections HERE…so much good stuff!). This collection is all about my favorite flower and contains gorgeous backgrounds, beautiful sentiments, and a pretty die set that can be used to create daisy-themed cards for any occasion. I used all of the products in the collection to create three simple cards to send a pretty hello to some friends.
FOILED DAISY HELLO CARD
The Daisy Trio Press Plate caught my eye in this collection first…it’s just the perfect simple design that you can use to ink or foil the negative space of a card front, leaving the flowers open to color or ink using the coordinating stencils for maximum effect. I applied Moondust Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Daisy Trio Press Plate and then lightly blended some pink, yellow, and green Distress Ink through the stencils for just a hint of color.
Once my color had been added, I trimmed the panel down just a touch, matted it with Raven Cardstock, and added it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. I loved this background as-is but wanted to add just a little bit of interest so I cut a frame out of white cardstock using two nested Perfect Touch Rectangles Dies and popped it up on top of the card front with foam adhesive. To finish off the card, I applied Black Hot Foil to white cardstock using one of the sentiments from the Crafty Hugs Sentiments Press Plates & Dies, cut it out with the coordinating die, and added it to the top corner with more foam adhesive.
BLENDED DAISY NOTE CARD
Next, I wanted to play with mixing inks on the beautiful Daisy Shower BetterPress Plate. I applied Lovestruck, Ultraviolet, and Coastline Metallic Ink to the press plate, carefully overlapping the colors on the plate just a bit to blend them nicely, and then pressed the design onto white cardstock. The result is a shimmery, solid background that is hard to photograph, but gorgeous in real life! There is a coordinating stencil set for this press plate, but with so much color already in the background, I chose to leave the flowers all white.
I trimmed about a quarter-inch off the side of the panel and added a piece of Raven Cardstock behind it before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. To finish off this bold and simple card, I applied Black Hot Foil to white cardstock using one of the sentiments from the Crafty Hugs Sentiments Press Plates & Dies, cut it out with the coordinating die, added a shadow cut from Raven Cardstock, and popped it up in the top corner with foam adhesive.
CRAFTY HUGS CARD
Lastly, I couldn’t ignore the stunning Yana’s Daisies Die Set…it makes for such beautiful focal points on cards! Like her previous floral die sets, the Yana’s Daisies Die Set cuts backer, outline, and detailed inset layers of a daisy bunch that are easy to color and assemble. I cut the backer and inset layers of the floral bunch out of white cardstock and outline layer out of Brushed Silver Cardstock. After blending a touch of Faded Jeans, Tumbled Glass, and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink onto the detailed inset layer, I adhered all of the layers together with liquid glue.
To create the background, I embossed a piece of Celestial Cardstock using the Molded Frame 3D Embossing Folder and lightly rubbed a white pigment ink pad over the raised areas to bring them out a bit more. The daisy bunch was added to the corner of the card front with foam adhesive, opposite another sentiment from the Crafty Hugs Sentiments Press Plates & Dies (foiled in Black Hot Foil, but you could just as easily press the sentiments in black ink!). Crystal Mix Gems were added to embellish.
