Yesterday I watched as a small group of deer bedded down in the woods at the back of my property just as the first flurries of the season fell, and I was immediately inspired. When inspiration hits, I need to grab onto it and hold on tight…because chasing after two toddlers drains a lot of my creativity most days.
I knew that I still had the Color Layering Deer Stamp Set squirreled away in my cabinet (having never seen ink), so I pulled it out and started experimenting with color combinations. Pink deer? Why not! The scene I had just witnessed was sugary sweet and I loved the idea of a soft, candy-colored card.
Although the Dulce Collection from Prima has a bit of a circus or carnival feel to it, the 6×6 paper pad is really just a bunch of sweet and dreamy images and colors, so it works perfectly for sparkly Christmas cards. I chose a couple of pretty patterns and trimmed out a few image strips, then matted them with Pebble Cardstock and arranged them on top of a white top-folding A2-sized card base. For a little extra wintry sparkle, I took two of the panels and applied some Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue around the edges. Then I dipped them in Shaved Ice glitter for the ultimate frosty feel. I usually stick to traditional holiday colors and patterns, but I really love how this card turned out! What’s your favorite non-traditional holiday color palette?
