Stencils are one of the most versatile crafting tools out there and I love finding unique ways to use certain designs that make them even more useful. The Wavy Stencil from Rubbernecker Stamps is perfect for creating water backgrounds, but works great for a brisk winter sky too! Since we’re still celebrating Christmas in July, today I’ve used it to make a cute winter slimline card perfect for sending a holiday hello.
- Stamp the animals from the Wintery Friends Stamp Set and the tree from the Woodland Animals #1 Stamp Set onto white cardstock using black alcohol-friendly ink.
- Color the images with Copic markers and cut the animals out using the coordinating dies. Fussy-cut the tree out with scissors and run a black marker around the edges to give it a finished look.
- Die cut white cardstock with the largest die from the Slimline Nested Scallop w/Stitch Die Set.
- The Wavy Stencil is not wide enough to cover an entire slimline background, but I knew I would be covering up the very center of the panel with the Christmas tree. Find the center of the die cut panel and mark it lightly with a pencil. Then place the stencil on either side of the line and apply Sky Ink lightly all over with a blending brush, adding bits of Lavender Ink here and there for some fun contrast.
- Stamp the sentiment from the Wintery Friends Stamp Set in the top right corner of the panel using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.
- To create the snow bank, die cut white cardstock first with the same die from the Slimline Nested Scallop w/Stitch Die Set.
- Next cut this scalloped panel with the flattest die from the Slimline Waves Die Set (this die works great for long hills too!).
- Mat the stenciled background panel with blue cardstock and then adhere it to a top-folding slimline-sized white card base with tape runner.
- Add the snowy hill on top of the background panel with foam adhesive.
- Adhere the tree directly to the center of the card front with tape runner, adding a bit of foam adhesive behind the top where it overhangs the snow bank.
- Add the animals around the tree with more foam adhesive.
- Embellish the tree with white and red pearls to finish off the card.
I hope you enjoyed this fun winter slimline card and thanks so much for stopping by today. Don’t forget to check out all of the beautiful Christmas products from Rubbernecker to get a jump start on your holiday projects too!
