Hello again friends! I wanted to stop by today to share a quick card and some fun news – Waffle Flower is re-releasing their popular Grip Mats with new sizes and updates! The Version 2 mats feature a slightly stickier surface than the originals and come with printed grids that are a little smaller than their corresponding mat…so you can place the grid on the back side of the mat and there is still a small border around the edges to stick to your surface. I had a chance to play with the two new sizes available in the Big Mini Grip Mat Bundle – 7.5″ x 11″ and 4″ x 4″ and love these new options! (I have all of the original Grip Mats already…after Waffle Flower sent me two to play with back during the first release, I loved them so much I bought the bundle of all the sizes.)
I created this sweet strawberry card for a friend using the new Grip Mats along with some older stamps and dies from Waffle Flower. I started by cutting out the center of a piece of white cardstock using the Organic Frame Die and then I added two greetings from Sweet Plate Sentiments Stamp Set around the frame in black ink.
Next I stamped the image from the Sweet Strawberry Stamp Set onto white cardstock using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink and placed it on my 7.5″ x 11″ Grip Mat. This mat is perfect for stenciling larger panels (there is plenty of room for a half-sheet of cardstock!) and can also hold your ink pad in place while you’re working if you use a quarter-sheet of cardstock like I am here. Here I’m adding some Twisted Citron Distress Ink to the leaves of my image using the Sweet Strawberry Coloring Stencil and afterwards I fussycut the image out with scissors.
The 4″ x 4″ Grip Mat is the smallest size available and it’s perfect for inking little die-cuts or even just to hold an ink pad on your surface while you work. (I love and use the silicone ink pad holder for that purpose usually, but it’s great to have options!) Here these tiny die-cuts made with the Strawberry Die Set are easy to blend ink over without getting it all over my fingernails because the tiniest pieces stick down perfectly while I work!
The background panel was created by blending Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink over the bottom two-thirds of a panel of Glacier Cardstock (the 7.5″ x 11″ Grip Mat works great for ink-blending these background panels as well!). After adhering the panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base, I popped the white frame up on top with foam adhesive, adding the strawberry die cut and Candy Dots to embellish. To finish off the card, I added the pretty strawberry branch to the center of the card front with more foam adhesive.
