Hello friends! I’m thrilled to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the brand new Toolbox Essentials Collection by Nancy McCabe from Spellbinders. (Check out the entire March release here!) This collection contains tool-themed dies, stamps, and Glimmer plates perfect for masculine cards, but I wanted to see if I could create three colorful cards with the collection for any recipient.
FEMININE THANK YOU CARD
The All The Tools Die Set is massive and has a die for nearly every tool you can think of. I cut the hammer, screwdriver, and snips out of Mirror Gold, Pink Sand, and Dahlia Cardstock for a more feminine look for this thank you card. The sentiment is from the A Cut Above The Rest Sentiments Stamp & Die Set (there are tons of other tool-themed sentiments included!) and I embossed it in gold onto white cardstock before cutting it out with the plaque die in the set.
To create the background, I applied Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Woodgrain Background Glimmer Plate and blended Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Inks over it for a soft ombre look. Then I popped the tools and sentiment plaque up on top with foam adhesive and added a few Fashion Gold Embellishments to finish it off.
SIMPLE FOILED ENCOURAGEMENT CARD
Next I picked up the Nailed It Glimmer Plate Set and foiled it onto white cardstock in tons of colors before settling on the Satin Navy Hot Foil (as it turns out, this foil has been discontinued but you can get a similar look using the Opaque Black Hot Foil). I love the way bright green and navy look together, so I trimmed the bottom edge of the panel off with a pair of scissors and blended Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink over it.
Then I trimmed a piece of Cosmic Sky Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and embossed it using the Diagonal Stripes Embossing Folder before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. After popping the foiled panel up on top of the card front with foam adhesive, I added a matching foiled sentiment created with the same Nailed It Glimmer Plate Set. I love this simple masculine card!
COLORFUL NEW HOME CARD
Lastly, I thought the painting tools from the All The Tools Die Set would be perfect on card to send a friend who just bought a new house. She’s a colorful person, so I needed to make the card colorful too! I started by cutting the paintbrushes and paint roller from the set out of Mirror Silver, Dune, white, Pink Sand, Raindrop, and Purple Mist Cardstock and assembled them with liquid glue. To make them stand out from the bright background, I cut white cardstock using one of the circle dies from the Postage Edge Circles Die Set and inked the center of it with Lost Shadow Distress Ink.
To create the background, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″, embossed it with the Splatter Embossing Folder, and blended Salty Ocean, Squeezed Lemonade, and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink over it to form a rainbow (overlap the colors in a circle for the complete rainbow). Then I matted it with black cardstock and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner before adding the focal image on top. I finished the card off with a cute sentiment from the Tiered Tray Sentiments Stamp Set.
