It’s been over six months since the war in Ukraine started, and several crafty companies have shown their support for the people of Ukraine during this time with special releases and donations. A while back, Spellbinders announced their own special collection where 100% of sales of these items will be donated to help the people of Ukraine. Today I’m sharing this pretty sunflower card using a couple of the items from this special collection.
I’ve shared before how I create these realistic-looking sunflowers using the Sunflower and Ladybugs Die Set, but here are the steps again:
- Die cut Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock using the Sunflower Petals and Flower Center dies from the Sunflowers and Ladybugs Die Set.
- Color the pieces with yellow and orange Copic markers and shape them with tweezers and a small ball stylus.
- Add orange or yellow pollen to the tips of the flower centers.
- Die cut Fern Cardstock several times with the Leaf Die. Blend Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink around the edges and shape them with the leaf tool and small ball stylus.
- Die cut Timber Cardstock several time with the Seeds Die and shape them with a ball stylus.
- Assemble the flowers with liquid glue and add brown prills to the centers for more texture.
- Die cut Susan’s Garden Specialty Cardstock and vellum using the Honey Bee Die from the Daffodil/Narcissus with Antique Vase Die Set. Color the specialty cardstock with Copic markers, trim off the wings, and adhere on top of the vellum layer. Add yellow pollen to the bee’s back.
To create the background:
- Trim a piece of patterned paper from the God Bless American Paper Pack to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and adhere to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.
- Stamp the sentiment from the Freedom Sunflowers Stamp Set onto white cardstock using Versafine Clair Medieval Blue Ink.
- Die cut the sentiment out using the largest die from the Decorative Mini Slimline Card Creator Die Set, positioning it as shown.
- Pop the sentiment panel up on top of the card front with foam adhesive and trim any excess off with a pair of scissors.
- Add the sunflower, leaves, and bee to the card with hot glue.
