Looking for a fun favor for your summertime party or an easy way to dress up a small gift? These cute beach-themed treat boxes are super easy to make with the help of your Silhouette and look great when paired with some of the gorgeous glitter cardstocks from CutCardStock!
Let’s start with the materials. Gold Glitter Cardstock has just the right texture for a sandcastle box and looks amazing paired with the Curious Translucent Iridescent Gold Cardstock for the windows. Silk Glitter Red Flash Cardstock and Silver Bright Foil Cardstock are both a nice medium weight (~80lb) that is great for 3D projects (any heavier and these type of boxes are difficult to assemble) and have beautiful finishes to add a little something to summer projects.
Start by downloading the “Sand Pail Shaped Box” and “Sand Castle Box” designs from the Silhouette Design Store. Cut the main body pieces of the sand pail from red glitter cardstock, the handle from gold glitter cardstock for some contrast, and the shovel from Silver Bright Foil Cardstock using the settings in the software for “Glitter Cardstock” and “Textured Cardstock”, respectively.
The backside of the Silver Bright Foil Cardstock is a matte white surface, so it can easily be stamped with a greeting like I’ve done here (“Sunkissed Greetings” from Pink & Main). It works great for folded cards and tags.
With only a few components, this design is easy to assemble. The finished size of my sand pail was about 4″ x 4″…perfect for a handful of candies or a small gift! TIP: Use a very strong glue to adhere glitter paper to itself – hot glue, glue dots, and foam tape work well, but my usual go-to adhesives, ATG or Scotch Quick-Dry, tend to fall apart after the boxes are filled.
For the sandcastle box, I started by cutting all of the main components from Gold Glitter Cardstock and the window “glass” from Curious Translucent Iridescent Gold Cardstock.
Translucent cardstock will easily adhere to the matte white backside of the glitter cardstock with Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.
After the main part of the box is assembled, you’ll need to add the front piece with foam tabs for a little dimension. Press this piece onto the glitter box well to secure it.
At four inches wide, this sandcastle treat box can hold the same handful of candies or small gift as the beach pail. I hope you enjoyed this fun summertime treat box project and thanks so much for stopping by today!
