Make that 17 minute challenge…it turns out I just can’t work quickly. I had a great plan: 1. use all the stamps and dies from the same set so that the design can’t get too complicated, 2. use paper piecing instead of coloring for the images, and 3. keep the embellishments to a minimum. Well…that still didn’t work in under 10 minutes…but it was fun to try! Truly not my proudest crafting achievement, but here it is:
Most will recognize the stamps, dies, and patterned papers as Lawn Fawn. I don’t have a ton of dies because I use my Cameo for most of my die-cutting, but I do buy coordinating dies for my stamp sets occasionally. Most of those coordinating dies are from Lawn Fawn or Hero Arts, and I actually find I have much better luck with the Lawn Fawn ones than the Sizzix ones that accompany Hero Arts stamps.
Anyway, I stamped the images from “Blue Skies” onto paper from the Bright Side collection because the colors seemed perfect for this week’s challenge. I got held up fussy-cutting the balloons and embossing the sentiment for some reason. And in my hurry, I got embossing powder all over my card and couldn’t get it off…oops.
When I finally started assembling the card, I decided to attach the balloons with baker’s twine…I mean, I was already past 15 minutes at this point, so I figured I should try to have at least one pretty detail…
Overall, definitely not my finest work…but I’m glad I broke out of my typical “obsess over every detail” pattern. I’d like to try this challenge again tomorrow with just some simple stamping on a one-layer card if I have time. I guess that will depend on what they have in store for us in class though!
Thanks for stopping by!
