Happy Monday friends! The latest collections have just been released from Spellbinders and I’m excited to share a couple of projects made with the brand new Stitched For Christmas Collection. (You can check out the entire July release here…so many beautiful Christmas designs!) This collection contains three sweet holiday icon stitching die sets and one beautiful stitching background die. I used all of the sets from the collection to create four fun holiday cards here, but be sure to check out the additional samples at the end of this post (more details for those over on the Spellbinders blog).
STITCHED POINSETTIA CARD
I love poinsettias of all kinds around the holidays, but something about the stitched detail on the ones from the Stitched Poinsettia & Holly Die Set makes them so much more special! I cut the flowers from Phone Booth, Pink Sand, and white cardstock and the holly leaves from Fern Cardstock and stitched them all with matching colors of thread for a tone-on-tone look. Sometimes I like the stitching to stand out in contrasting colors and other times I just like them to add a textural element like I did with these.
The background was created by trimming a piece of Phone Booth Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″, embossing it with the Scenic Poinsettia 3D Embossing Folder, rubbing a bit of gold gilding wax over the raised areas, matting it with Mirror Gold Cardstock, and adhering it all to a top-folding A2-sized white card base using tape runner. I cut an oval out of white cardstock using the Fluted Classics Ovals Dies and popped my floral bouquet off to the side with foam adhesive. To finish off the card, I foiled a sentiment from the Joyful Christmas Sentiments Glimmer Plate using Gold Hot Foil and added it to the open space with more foam adhesive.
STITCHED SPARKLING SNOWFLAKE CARD
The Stitched Christmas Sweater Die Set is such a fun set with tons of versatility…you can use the holiday icons included in the set on their own or to decorate your own silly sweater! I cut three of the snowflakes from the set out of white, Glacier, and Raindrop Cardstock and stitched them with silver metallic thread for this pretty card.
The background is another great new stitching die, the Stitched Starry Argyle Die, but I didn’t want too busy of a background for my snowflakes, so I cut it out of Cosmic Sky Cardstock and added Crystal Mix Gems to the star centers for this fun look instead. After adhering the snowflakes onto the card front with foam adhesive, I finished off the card with a sentiment from the Glitter Wishes Glimmer Plate Set, foiled in Cobalt Hot Foil.
STITCHED CHRISTMAS TREE TRIO CARD
Using a similar layout, I created this cute and easy card with the little Christmas trees from the Stitched Christmas Sweater Die Set. After cutting them out of Rainforest, Fern, and Forest Cardstock, I stitched them all with gold metallic thread and added a star cut from Mirror Gold Cardstock.
To create the background, I embossed a piece of Dune Cardstock with the new Holly & Foliage 3D Embossing Folder, matted it with Mirror Gold Cardstock, and mounted it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. After I added the three trees to the card front with foam adhesive, I foiled a sentiment in Gold Hot Foil using the Merry Glimmer Sentiments Plate Set and added it beneath the trees.
STITCHED CHRISTMAS TREE CARD
Lastly, I wanted to put that fun Stitched Christmas Tree Die Set to use, so I cut it out of some white cardstock and stitched it with five different shades of pink thread for a fun retro ombre look. The swirly layer was cut from Pink Sand Cardstock and adhered on top with liquid glue while the star was cut from Mirror Gold Cardstock and stitched with gold metallic thread. To finish of the card, I trimmed a piece of Waterfall Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″, embossed it with the new Vintage Ornaments 3D Embossing Folder, and added it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. After popping the tree up on top of the card front with more foam adhesive, I added a sentiment below foiled in Gold Hot Foil using the Glitter Wishes Glimmer Plate Set.
And here are three more projects I created with this collection!
- The first card uses the Stitched Poinsettia & Holly Die Set atop a background created with the Holly & Foliage 3D Embossing Folder.
- Next, I used a fun inking technique on the Stitched Christmas Sweater Die Set and added it all on top of a background made with the Sweater Weather Embossing Folder.
- Lastly, I inked the Stitched Christmas Tree die-cuts before stitching and used the Stitched Starry Argyle Die without stitching for a pretty and simple background.
