Welcome back friends! I’m excited to share another collection in the February release from Spellbinders today – the brand new Spring Sampler Collection by Simon Hurley. This collection contains two beautiful springtime BetterPress plate sets and a 3D Embossing folder that I know I’ll be using again and again. I loved the images in the sets so much and just wanted to do some straightforward coloring with Copics this time, so I created a couple of sweet cards for Easter and Mother’s Day using them more as “stamps” than press plates.
SOFT EASTER SCENE CARD
The sweet bunnies in the Spring Bunnies BetterPress Plate Set had me at hello. I pressed the images from the set onto plain white cardstock using brown alcohol-friendly ink with my BetterPress System…essentially turning them more into stamps than press plates. After coloring them all in with Copic markers, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. To create the background panel, I die cut white cardstock using one of the Postage Edge Rectangles Dies, masked off the edges with Mint Tape, and blended Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink around the edges to create a bit of sky and grass.
After applying a bit of Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink to the Woven 3D Embossing Folder and embossing Dune Cardstock with it, I blended a bit more of the ink around the edges of the panel and matted it with Latte Cardstock before adding it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. The background panel and die-cut images were then arranged on top and adhered down with foam adhesive.
MAGNOLIA MOTHER’S DAY CARD
Next I took those beautiful floral images from the Spring Magnolias BetterPress Plate Set and pressed them onto plain white cardstock using black alcohol-friendly ink and my BetterPress System. After coloring them with my Copic markers, I cut them out with the coordinating dies and adhered them to a piece of white cardstock I had cut using the Fluted Classics Rectangles Dies.
I wanted to keep the card pretty soft, so I embossed a piece of Pink Sand Cardstock using the Woven 3D Embossing Folder and rubbed a white inkpad over the raised areas. The effect is very subtle on this light cardstock, but I love it! I adhered the embossed panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive and added the focal point on top with more foam adhesive.
I hope you enjoyed these pretty springtime card projects and thanks so much for stopping by today. You can shop the Spring Sampler Collection by Simon Hurley now and create your own sweet cards for the season!
