Hello again friends! I am excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new Spotlight Frames & Florals Collection by Lisa Horton from Spellbinders (check out the rest of the May release here…there are some brand new products that just hit the shop today!). This collection contains beautiful florals, fun backgrounds, and even some unique layered sentiments perfect for creating cards to brighten someone’s day. I used most of the products from the collection to create these two pretty floral cards for a friend.
YOU MAKE ME SMILE CARD
I thought the Layered Iris Die Set was so beautiful, I knew I wanted to create a card with it first. After cutting the components out of Purple Mist, Royal Amethyst, Sunkissed, and Rainforest Cardstocks, I shaded the pieces a bit with Distress Inks before assembling with liquid glue. Then I cut white cardstock using the lattice design from the Stitched Edge Circle Background Die Set to create the spotlight background for my iris – the signature of this collection from Lisa.
The card front panel was trimmed to 4″ x 5.25″ before blending Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink up the panel, and then cutting the center out with the inner circle die from the Stitched Edge Circle Background Die Set. This panel was added to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive after placing a piece of Splash Cardstock behind the aperture for some additional color. The sentiment was stamped and die cut using the You Make Me Smile Sentiments Stamp & Die Set with similar ink blending on the top die-cut layer. To finish the card off, I added some Crystal Mix Gems to embellish.
A HAPPY HELLO CARD
Next I used the Layered Anemone Die Set to cut my favorite shades of this pretty flower – purple, pink, and white. After assembling several of them, I decided to create a “field” of flowers, so I flipped my top-folding A2-sized card base to a landscape style and added a simple golden background cut from Mirror Gold Cardstock with the Woven Lattice Texture Die.
I added the flowers on top with foam adhesive and trimmed the stems to just above the edge of the card front. Then I cut white and Onyx Cardstock using the A Little Hello Sentiments Stamp & Die Set (using just two of the three included layers) and stamped and die cut the sub-sentiment with the same set before adding them to card with more foam adhesive.
