September Club Kits are here from Spellbinders and once again the designs are the kind that’ll have you pulling out these kits to use over and over. This month’s Small Die of the Month Kit, Hello & Thank You, includes all the dies you need to cut two different kinds of diamond-shaped wreaths, two sentiments, and a ton of floral elements to layer and customize your wreath frames. Using some fun fall color palettes, I created two cards this month to send a little hello and thank you.
With a gold and plum color scheme, I knew I wanted my first card to be a little more simple and elegant. So, I started by foiling a piece of white cardstock with the beautiful border design from the Framed Details Glimmer Hot Foil Plate set, some gold foil, and my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. Once foiled, I trimmed the pieced down to leave a tiny white border.
The Hello & Thank You Kit cuts diamond floral frames (by joining two die-cuts), but you can really use the dies to form tons of different shapes. I trimmed the long, straight edge off of my die-cuts (cut from gold foil and mint shimmer cardstock) and used them to frame the Hello sentiment on just the top and bottom. Then I added a ton of little floral pieces, cut from two different purple shimmer cardstocks, with some liquid glue.
This next card uses the frame in the more traditional sense and I couldn’t resist going full-on autumn with the design after seeing the fun leafy frame die! Cutting the leafy frame pieces twice using olive shimmer and copper foil kraft stock, I layered them together to form a diamond using liquid glue, offsetting them to let just a bit of copper shadow show through.
Although the kit includes a thank you sentiment, the wreath was the perfect size to fit this beautiful fall sentiment from the Thankful Glimmer Hot Foil Plate set. Using Blush foil, I added the greeting onto a piece of plaid patterned paper from the Whimsical Forest Paper Pad (included in this month’s Card Kit of the Month). For a touch more autumn, I also foiled a few images from the Sunset Harvest Glimmer Kit (a previously released Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month) and colored them in with Distress Inks and sponge daubers.
I matted the foiled background panel with a little more copper foil kraft stock before adhering it to a side-folding A2-sized white card base. After adding a few tiny die-cut flowers to the wreath (colored with Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, and Mustard Seed Distress Inks), I popped the pumpkin and leafy stems up in the lower right corner.
