In honor of yesterday’s “spring forward” (are y’all still recovering like I am?), I wanted to share a quick look at the hoppy little bunnies from this month’s Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club. This die set, perfect for spring or Easter projects, includes a large carrot (outline, interior, and greens), two different bunnies, small flowers and greenery, and sentiment. I thought the carrot was just asking to be made into a shaker, so created this fun springtime card for a friend.
I started by cutting the outline of the carrot five times out of orange cardstock to form the outside of the shaker component (this looks neater than using foam strips when the shaker sits up off the front of the card like this). After adhering four of the outline layers together with liquid glue, I placed an orange plaid pattern in the center and filled it with pastel-colored sequins before adhering a piece of acetate on top, followed by another outline layer.
(Tip: When adhering anything to acetate, I like to use a solvent-based glue like Beacon 3-in-1 for a stronger hold than most white craft glues.)
The bunnies were cut out of kraft cardstock (detail layers were cut from pink and black) before inking around the edges a bit with Vintage Photo Distress Ink for a little dimension. Using one of the ear detail layers and a snippet of the greenery, I also created a small carrot for the one bunny to hold. To finish the card off, I added the sentiment across the front of the shaker carrot.
