Spellbinders October 2023 Club Kits

Happy October friends!  The October 2023 Club Kits from Spellbinders have been revealed and we are celebrating Christmas again this month!  Today I’m sharing nine card projects featuring the Large Die of the Month, Small Die of the Month, Glimmer Kit of the Month, Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, Embossing Folder of the Month, 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, Stitching Die of the Month, Clear Stamp & Die of the Month Kits, BetterPress of the Month Kit, and Wax Seal of the Month Kit.

Note: The new Subscription Sign-Up Window opens on the 6th of each month and closes on the 27th.  After existing club members subscriptions have been processed, if there is additional inventory remaining, then they will be made available for new subscriptions and will have limited availability. LARGE DIE OF THE MONTH

This month’s Large Die of the Month Kit, “Christmas Boutique“, is a massive set of 20 dies that can be used to build a sweet storefront with beautiful holiday florals and a pretty sentiment.  I used the set to make this pretty Christmas shop scene on a card front, but you can also create a fun shaped card as well!

After cutting the boutique out of classic Christmas colors, I assembled the entire thing on top of the base die-cut with liquid glue.  To create the background, I blended some Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the edges of a card front made from Glacier Cardstock, and then splattered some white paint (watered down before flicking) on top.  I added a snowbank cut from white cardstock using the Color Block Scenic Scape Die Set before popping the shop on top with foam adhesive.

SMALL DIE OF THE MONTH

This month’s Small Die of the Month Kit, “Big Jolly Santa“, is such a fun and versatile set perfect for cute holiday tags and cards.  The kit contains 11 cutting dies that allow you to cut this adorable layered Santa marching with his customizable flag.   Choose from the two die-cut banners in the set or stamp one of the sentiments from this month’s add-on, “Big Jolly Santa Sentiments Stamp Set“, onto the flag for even more possibilities!

After cutting the Santa from various red, white, and green cardstock, I inked the edges with Distress Inks a bit for a little dimension and assembled him with liquid glue.  The sentiment, from the Big Jolly Santa Sentiment Stamp Set, was stamped in Green Oasis Versafine Clair Ink before adding the flag to his little hand.  To create the background, I embossed Pink Sand Cardstock with this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month and matted it with Mirror Silver Cardstock before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.

GLIMMER KIT OF THE MONTH

This month’s Glimmer Kit of the Month, “Bouquet Full Of Joy” contains 5 Glimmer plates that can be used to foil a beautiful floral bouquet, loopy bow, and three pretty sentiments as well as dies to cut the bow and sentiments out.  I applied Polished Brass Hot Foil to white cardstock and colored the bouquet image with Copic Markers before fussycutting it out for this simple and pretty holiday card.

The bow was foiled in Red Hot Foil onto white cardstock and cut out with the coordinating die before adding it and the sentiment on top of the bouquet with foam adhesive.  To assemble the card, I embossed Waterfall Cardstock with this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, matted it with Mirror Gold Cardstock, and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  After popping the bouquet on top of the card front with foam adhesive, I added a few Gold Mix Gems to embellish.

STITCHING DIE OF THE MONTH

This month’s Stitching Die of the Month is another pretty holiday one with simple stitching perfect for beginners!  This month’s kit, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas“, is a set of 7 dies that creates a beautiful holiday card front with a fun stitched tree and ornaments as well as two sentiment banners.  I blended Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Inks over a piece of white cardstock and cut it using the background die before stitching the tree and ornaments cut from white cardstock up with metallic gold thread for this simple and pretty Christmas card.

I glued the background panel directly onto some Mirror Gold Cardstock so that tiny cut-outs appeared golden, then cut the ornament toppers and sentiment out of matching gold cardstock too.  Once I had added the background to a top-folding A2-sized white card base, I simply popped the tree, ornaments, and sentiment up on top with foam adhesive.

CLEAR STAMP & DIE OF THE MONTH KIT

This month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, “Festive Penguins” is a set of 9 stamps that contains three adorable penguin images, a few fun accessories, and 3 sweet sentiments to go with them.  If your subscription includes the coordinating dies, you’ll also get 6 dies to cut the images out.  I stamped the images onto white cardstock with black alcohol-friendly ink and colored them with Copic markers for this cute Christmas shaker card.

To create the shaker portion of the card, I first die cut white cardstock using dies from the Fluted Classics Rectangles and Fluted Classics Ovals Die Sets and trimmed the panel down to 4″ x 5.25″.  Then I embossed one of the sentiments from the set onto some heat-resistant acetate using white embossing powder and glued this behind the oval window with liquid glue.  I added foam adhesive around the window and popped in tons of clear, white, and blue sequins from my stash before adding a piece of Raindrop Cardstock to the back.  Once adhered to a top-folding A2-sized white card base, I popped the stamped images up on top of the card front to finish off the card.

EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH

And let me finally introduce you to this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, “Christmas Tile“.  It embosses a pretty ornament and leafy branch pattern that’s perfectly subtle and works great for holiday and winter cards.  I embossed a piece of Raindrop Cardstock with the Christmas Tile embossing folder and blended a little Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the edges to create a background for this simple and cute Christmas penguin card.

The penguins were stamped onto white cardstock with black alcohol-friendly ink using this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit and colored with Copic markers before cutting them out with the coordinating dies.  I added a hill underneath of them cut from white cardstock using the Color Block Scenic Scape Die Set and a sentiment banner stamped with the same stamp set to finish off the card.

3D EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH

This month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, “Flowering Christmas Tree Burst”, is so beautiful and would really work for any season with its subtle floral tree pattern.  I inked the bottom of a panel of Sage Cardstock with Pine Needles Distress Ink before embossing it with the Flowering Christmas Tree Burst 3D Embossing Folder, then rubbed white pigment ink over the raised areas to bring out the design a bit more.

I stitched up some more of the ornaments from this month’s Stitching Die of the Month with gold metallic thread and draped them from the top of the panel using gold cording from my stash.  To finish off this simple and pretty card, I cut another sentiment banner from the Stitching Die of the Month out of Mirror Gold Cardstock and popped it up beneath the ornaments with foam adhesive.

BETTERPRESS OF THE MONTH

Have you joined the BetterPress of the Month Club yet?  This month’s kit, “Continued Joy“, contains 1 press plate that creates a beautiful sentiment Christmas tree image.  I pressed the plate onto Glacier Cardstock using Hydrangea, Coastal, and Cosmic Sky BetterPress Ink for an ombre effect on this simple and frosty holiday card.

Once pressed, I trimmed the panel down to 4″ x 5.25″ and applied Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink around the edges for some depth.  After mounting it on a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive, I added Crystal Mix Gems to the image to embellish.

WAX SEAL OF THE MONTH

Lastly, I used the Glimmer Kit of the Month to show off this month’s Wax Seal of the Month Kit.  The “Merry Christmas To You” Wax Seal Kit contains one beautiful circular Christmas wax seal stamp as well as a bag of Red Wax Beads.  I stamped my seal using the gorgeous beads provided and added gold metallic marker to bring out the design a bit more.

The card was created by applying Polished Brass Hot Foil to white cardstock using this month’s Glimmer Kit of the Month, followed by blending Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles, and Black Soot Distress Ink over top.  To bring out the design a bit, I applied clean water to the flowers and leaves and dabbed it away with a paper towel, leaving a ghost-like image on the background.  After matting the panel with Mirror Gold Cardstock, I wrapped some gold cording around the bottom and popped the wax seal up on top.  I love how simple and pretty this turned out!
