Happy May Day friends! It’s reveal day for the May 2022 Club Kits from Spellbinders and there are so many beautiful and unique designs this month! Today I’m sharing nine card projects featuring the Large Die of the Month, Small Die of the Month, Glimmer Kit of the Month, Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, Embossing Folder of the Month, Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month, Card Kit of the Month, and Clear Stamp & Die of the Month Kits.
LARGE DIE OF THE MONTH
This month’s Large Die of the Month Kit, “Stitched For You“, is a massive set of 42 dies that can be used to cut multiple sentiments and their corresponding shadow layers. The large “you” die is also an easy stitching die if you want it to be! I used a bunch of the word dies included in the kit to create this bright and sparkly 5″ x 7″ birthday card.
I cut most of the letters from some of the new Glitter Foam (that works perfectly for diecutting even thin letters like these!) and the shadow layers from white cardstock. For the large “you” word, I did the opposite, and stitched the letters with some matching metallic thread. The balloons were cut from the same glitter foam with the balloon dies from the Open Road Die Set.
I added a piece of Cosmic Sky Cardstock to a top-folding A7-sized white card base that I had embossed using this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month. Then I popped all of the elements up on top with foam adhesive and added some white twine to the balloons for strings.
SMALL DIE OF THE MONTH
If you enjoy stitching on cards, then this month’s Small Die of the Month Kit is definitely for you! The “Stitched Hello” Die Set contains 10 dies that allow you to cut a gorgeous layered sentiment that can be stitched or left plain as well as a few small stitching designs that complement the main design beautifully. I used the kit to create a fun ombre stitched and ink-blended card perfect for sending a cheery hello.
After cutting the stitched shadow layer from the kit out of Cosmic Sky Cardsdtock, I stitched the entire design using pink variegated embroidery floss. Then I cut the letters out of Mirror Gold Cardstock (I love the textured detail on these!).
The ombre background was created by blending Kitsch Flamingo and Spun Sugar Distress Inks up from the bottom of my top-folding A2-sized white card base with a blending brush. After adhering the sentiment to the center with foam adhesive, I added a few Gold Mix Gems to embellish.
GLIMMER KIT OF THE MONTH
Following with the stitching theme, this month’s Glimmer Kit of the Month is gorgeous and one you can use in so many different ways! “Stitched Glimmer Butterflies” contains ten Glimmer plates along with 19 coordinating dies to create gorgeous layered butterflies along with matching sentiments.
I started by applying Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the butterfly inserts and one of the sentiments from the kit, then cut them all out with the coordinating dies. The remaining butterfly layers were cut from Purple Mist, Royal Amethyst, and Mirror Gold Cardstock. You can stitch the layers, but I thought the lacy look was beautiful all on its own, so left them alone!
I embossed a piece of Glacier Cardstock with this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, matted it with Mirror Gold Cardstock, and adhered it to a side-folding A7-sized white card base with tape runner. After popping my butterflies and sentiment up on top of the card front with foam adhesive, I added a flower from the Be Bold Blooms Die Set in the corner and embellished with Gold Mix Gems.
EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH
This month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, “Faux Stitch“, is a beautiful and super versatile addition to your oversized folder collection. Its design mimics some of the patterns found in the popular stitching dies from Spellbinders but it also has just a pretty sunburst look, so works on all kinds of cards!
I trimmed a piece of Waterfall Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and embossed it with the Faux Stitch Embossing Folder before matting it with Mirror Gold Cardstock and adding it to the front of a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Then I cut the big “you” sentiment using this month’s Large Die of the Month, left it without stitching (it looks beautiful with and without!), and added it to the bottom right corner of the card front.
I completed the sentiment by trimming a “missing” off of one of greetings from the Mini Sincere Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set. To finish off this simple card, I added a few flowers cut from Dahlia and Rainforest Cardstock using the Mini Blooms & Sprigs Die Set and a couple of Gold Mix Gems.
AMAZING PAPER GRACE DIE OF THE MONTH
And how adorable is this month’s Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month?! The “Pop-Up 3D Vignette What’s Bakin Oven” is a set of 14 dies that can be used to cut an amazing 3D oven that folds flat for mailing and comes complete with tons of baking accessory dies perfect for use on regular cards.
I had a lot of fun cutting and assembling this little oven in vintage colors…and don’t worry, all of the instructions are included and easy to follow! Since my favorite cookies are chocolate chip, I cut the cookies out of white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers to look like them.
There are also two sentiments included that fit perfectly behind the oven doors…but stamp or die-cut your own to customize it even more!
CLEAR STAMP & DIE OF THE MONTH KIT
This month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit follows along with the cute stitching theme too. “Stitched Color Wheel” is a fun set of 9 stamps with a color wheel, a couple of thread bobbins, and some sweet sentiments. If your subscription includes the coordinating dies, you’ll also get 6 dies to cut the images and sentiments out. (Including one for the thread bobbins, so you can create your own storage for your threads!)
I used the color wheel image to stamp a bright and fun background pattern in rainbow colors. Then I stamped and die-cut the empty thread bobbin and wrapped a rainbow of thread around it as well.
After adding some matting and an accent strip cut out of Onyx Cardstock, I stamped one of the fun sentiments and cut it out to add next to my rainbow thread bobbin. Don’t forget to fill in the “thread number” as 1 to let your loved one know where they stand with you!
CARD KIT OF THE MONTH
Lastly, this month’s Card Kit of the Month, “Koala Smiles” is chock full of gorgeous floral images, pretty sentiment stamps, and an adorable die set that cuts this sweet koala on a branch! I created three cards with many of the elements in the kit, but could have easily made a ton more!
The die set is seriously worth the cost of the kit in my opinion…how cute is he?! I cut and assembled him using the cardstock in the kit and added him to a simple background made with patterned paper and white cardstock.
To finish the card off, I added a puffy gold sentiment and heart stickers from the kit. I really wanted to keep this card simple because he’s so cute!
This easy card was created with a few butterfly die-cut shapes from the kit layered onto some woodgrain patterned paper. Then I just added a sentiment from the included stamp set below.
This last card is just a collage of the beautiful die-cut shapes on top of some ledger-style patterned paper. I love how easy it is to pull together a pretty card with these kits!
