Layering stamps have been very popular for several years now and layered diecutting is seeing a spike in popularity as well, so it’s only natural that Spellbinders would find a way to incorporate foiling into the trend! The new Layered Glimmer Collection is all about adding beautiful foiled accents to die-cuts, and then adding additional die cut layers for tons of texture and dimension. The results are gorgeous and perfect for elegant and everyday card projects.
I loved the big, beautiful blooms in the Glimmered Botanical Glimmer Plate set, so started by adding Fuchsia Flower, Gold, and Green Hot Foil to some purple, yellow, and green cardstock with the floral and leafy vein plates in the set and my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. Then I cut the layers out with the included coordinating dies and layered them up with liquid glue, adding a third floral layer cut from some purple glitter cardstock to the flowers for even more texture.
To create the background, I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the Love Stripes Embossing Folder before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Then I foiled the frame from the Geometric Floral Glimmer Plate set onto white cardstock with Gold Hot Foil, blended Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink over top, and trimmed it out with a pair of scissors leaving a thin border. After popping the frame up on top of the card base with foam adhesive, I added the flowers and a foiled sentiment from the Celebrate The Day Glimmer Plate set with more foam adhesive.
My second card uses the gorgeous giant sentiment from the Especially For You Glimmer Plate set. After foiling the “For You” onto some white cardstock in Cobalt Hot Foil, I die cut a fancy border around it using the Candlewick Classics Squares Dies. I popped this up on top of matting layers cut from mint and Cobalt Velour Cardstock before adding it all to a 5″ x 5″ top-folding white card base.
For a summery feel, I added coral and pink layered flowers (some with super subtle Opal-foiled accents) along with minty leafy branches (some with Moondust-foiled accents) to each letter with foam adhesive and liquid glue. I finished off the card with a sentiment strip foiled in Cobalt Hot Foil on mint cardstock using one of the additional sentiment plates in the Especially For You Glimmer set.
I hope you enjoyed these layered foil card projects and thanks so much for stopping by today. You can shop the Layered Glimmer Collection now to add gorgeous foiled accents to your layered die-cuts too!
