A new month has begun, and with that comes the invigorating feeling of a fresh start…and, for some people (like me), the excitement over Spellbinders Club Kit reveals! This month, many of the kits include what I’d call elevated basics – dies that are way more than ordinary, but ones that you’ll come back to use on projects again and again throughout the year. And if you like layering dies, then the Large Die of the Month kit is right up your alley.
Featuring a scrolly floral design, Kaleidoscope Card Creator is a set of dies that can be layered up in countless color combinations and woven together to create a fun, ornate background for any occasion. If you happened to pick up the Kaleidoscope Triangles die set last year (you can see them in action in this blog post here), the design is similar enough to work with this set for even more possibilities.
I used most of the dies in the kit to create this princess-y thank you card in shades of pink, white, and gold. Although it looks like it could be tough to assemble, the layering is really simple to do with some dots of adhesive from a fine-tipped glue pen and then the die-cuts fit together like puzzle pieces to form a frame that leaves a 1/8″ border on an A2-sized card base. For the sentiment, I used my Glimmer Hot Foil machine and the Thank You Combo hot foil plate to embellish the oval die-cut in Magenta foil.
Because of the way the layered pieces interlock, you can create way more than just A2-sized cards too…just add or delete the small square connector die-cuts! I chose a summery color scheme for this 4.5″ square birthday card built in tones of teal, peach, coral, and gold.
Any circle die-cut around 2.25″ in diameter would work with this card, so I decided to foil a gold dotted border on some white cardstock using the Essential Glimmer Circles Hot Foil Plates and my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. Then I added a birthday sentiment in Moondust Hot Foil using the Yana’s Sentiments Hot Foil Plates to finish off this bright and cheery card.
I hope you enjoyed this look at the May 2020 Large Die of the Month kit and thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll be back with inspiration for some of the other May club kits very soon!
