The first day of spring may not be for another couple of weeks, but March 1st has always been the unofficial beginning of all things floral, fuzzy, and pastel for me. It’s also reveal day for the Spellbinders Club kits! I have a couple of kits to share with you this month, but decided to start with the Large Die of the Month today because I can’t get over these adorable bunnies. Although the kit has everything you need to make a beautiful 3D Easter basket (sample shown below), I wanted to share an idea for a simple springtime card as well to show just how versatile these dies can be.
Included in the kit are two bunnies. I thought it would be fun to cut the larger one out of flocked cardstock for my card so that he’s actually fuzzy. After passing the die through my machine with white, pink, and black Crushed Velvet Cardstock, I assembled him quickly with Beacon 3-in-1 glue. (I’ve found this glue works better for flocked cardstock than the typical white or PVA glues you might normally use for cardmaking.)
To create the background, I trimmed a piece of Arctic cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and blended Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the edges with a blending brush. Then I cut a pretty, delicate frame out of white cardstock using the Candlewick Classics Rectangle dies.
The sentiment was foiled using my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine, gold foil, and two different foil plate sets – Hello Dear Friend and Everyday Sentiments II. Once foiled, I die-cut the “hello” out with the coordinating die and trimmed the “friend” out of the other with my scissors.
Adhere the blue background to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner, then pop the pretty frame up on top with foam strips. Die cut some leafy stems and flowers using the dies included in the kit, and adhere them under the bunny’s arm to make a bouquet. Adhere the bunny and the sentiment to the card front with foam adhesive.
Also included in the kit is a beautiful basket die and side panels that you can use to assemble a 3D basket perfect for party and wedding favors or small Easter gifts (instructions are included in the kit so I won’t do a step-by-step here). I filled mine with two glittery “Peeps” bunnies and some leafy branches and flowers (shaped a bit with my paper blossoms tool kit).
I hope you enjoyed this look at the March 2020 Large Die of the Month kit and thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll be back with inspiration for a few of the other March club kits very soon!
