Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Kit – May 2021

If you have been loving the gorgeous stitching dies that Spellbinders has been offering lately, then this month’s Large Die of the Month Kit is definitely for you!  With floral motifs similar to last month’s Small Die of the Month, the “Stitched Card Front, Border, and Flower” die set offers a ton of new ways to add stitching to your projects – stitch just a little, a whole lot, or even not at all (use the dies as a decorative pierced element!).

With summertime on the horizon, I took my inspiration from those pretty white linen tops with beautiful blue embroidery that start popping up in stores this time of year.  I used the card front dies in the kit to cut white cardstock before stitching the whole design using cornflower blue floss to replicate the look.  (Stitching a large card front like this goes a little faster if you’re not switching colors too!).

To stick with my linen-shirt-and-jeans feel, I kept it simple and stamped one of the beautiful sentiments from this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit directly onto a top-folding A2-sized white card base with Versamark Ink, added gold embossing powder, and melted it with my heat tool.

I adhered the stitched card front to my card base with foam adhesive and added three different sizes of gold gems to all of the flower centers for a little sparkle.  (BTW – I love the sizes of these new gems…they are perfect for cards!  I always have such a hard time using the largest gems or dots in other packs and get frustrated that they don’t have realllllly small gems like these sets do.)
