Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Kit – February 2021

I’ve been on a birthday card kick lately because they are the kind of card I send the most and always seem to need.  My card stash is particularly lacking in masculine birthday cards, so I pulled out this month’s Large Die of the Month Kit from Spellbinders – the perfect die set for making easy birthday cards.  “Birthday Wishes for Everyone” features fourteen dies that cut extra large numbers and the accompanying words and symbols to complete a beautiful birthday sentiment.

I started by trimming a piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″.  After blending Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness, Blueprint Sketch, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Inks over the entire panel with foam blending tools, I splashed a little water across it diagonally for some fun “oxidized” texture.  Then I used the second largest circle die from the Essential Circles Die Set to add a cut-out to the lower right side for my numbers.

The numbers in the kit are large enough to add some fun effects to with color, embossing, foiling, etc., so I started by adding Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Modern Lines Background Foil Plate and my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine.  Then I cut the cardstock with my number dies, only allowing the foiling to cover about two-thirds of the die-cut.  I blended the same inks over the die-cuts to match and then cut a shadow layer and the rest of my sentiment out of gold mirror cardstock.

After adding my inked background to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive, I played around with placement a bit and adhered both the “happy” die-cut and the numbers to the card front with more foam adhesive.  The “th” on the 45 was added with a bit of liquid glue.

For a little fun, I embossed a sentiment from this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit in gold on matching cardstock and trimmed it out before adhering it at the bottom with foam adhesive.  My husband has been a little over-dramatic about turning 45 this year, so I made this card with him in mind and added a bit of sarcasm! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this easy masculine birthday card and thanks so much for stopping by today.  If you missed my post featuring some of the other Spellbinders Clubs from this month, be sure to click here and take a look!

Wow! I love this card and how you used foiling on the numbers. I will definitely give this a try.
