LARGE DIE OF THE MONTH
This month’s Large Die of the Month Kit, “Summertime Vacay“, is a huge set of 15 dies that can be used to build a gorgeous beach scene complete with chairs and an umbrella, a little island, and even a sun peeking out from behind some fluffy clouds. I used the dies in the set to make this colorful card for a friend with a pretty ink-blended background, but there are tons of ways to configure the scene to suit your needs. I cut all of the shapes out of brightly-colored cardstock and shaded them a bit with Distress Inks, then added ink splatters over the two patches of sand for some texture.
The background was created with some simple blends of Distress Oxide Inks on a 5″ x 7″ panel of white cardstock – Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers for the sea and Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass for the sky. Instead of placing my lounge chairs on the small island die-cut, I added them to the forefront (bottom) of the scene and positioned the island at the top of the card to appear farther away. The big sun peeking out from behind the island and a couple of small palm trees from the Coastal Escape View Die Set were the perfect touch to give the scene so much depth. To finish off the card, I added the surf from the kit beneath the island (cut from vellum) and simple greeting foiled in gold using this month’s Glimmer of the Month Kit.
SMALL DIE OF THE MONTH
This month’s Small Die of the Month Kit, “Summertime Wade Pool“, is perfect for adorable summer cards. The kit contains 14 cutting dies that allow you to cut dancing ice cream cones and a hippo and two different pool floats for them to relax in. I used the dies in the kit to create two cute ice cream cones and added some ink-blending and glitter details to really make them pop. The bodies are adhered separately behind the “heads” by a single foam square in a loop that allows them to sway back and forth or dance.
To create the background, I adhered a piece of patterned paper from the Just Beachy Paper Pad to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. Then I added a piece of white cardstock on top that I had die cut using one of the Nested Postage Labels & Tag Dies. Another cute sentiment foiled in gold with this month’s Glimmer of the Month Kit finishes off this fun summer card.
STITCHING DIE OF THE MONTH
This month’s Stitching Die of the Month continues with the fun ice cream theme of course! “Stitched Ice Cream“, is a set of 12 dies that cuts a fun layered ice cream cone design you can stitch as well as a cherry and two sweet sentiments. I cut the cone out of Dune Cardstock and scoops out of Pink Sand, Alabaster, and Latte Cardstocks for a huge neopolitan dessert, shading them with Distress Inks around the edges, and then stitching everything up using matching thread for a tone-on-tone look.
I trimmed a piece of Waterfall Cardstock to 3.25″ x 6.25″ and added a little Peacock Feathers and Salvaged Patina Distress Ink to the bottom two-thirds before embossing it with this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month and adhering it to a top-folding white card base measuring 3.5″ x 6.5″. Once the ice cream cone was added with foam adhesive, I cut white cardstock using one of the sentiment banners from the kit and embellished with a few Aura Opalescent Sequins.
CLEAR STAMP & DIE OF THE MONTH KIT
For those of you who like to stamp (and maybe even color?), this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, “Paradise Resort” is a set of 9 stamps with a fun motel key fob and three cute inserts as well as five pretty sentiments. If your subscription includes the coordinating dies, you’ll also get 7 dies to cut the edge of the large images and all five sentiments. I stamped the scenic insert images from the kit on their own (keep scrolling for another card that uses the complete key fob!) onto white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers before cutting them out using the coordinating die to create this colorful card for a friend.
After embossing a piece of white cardstock using this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, I matted it with Mirror Gold Cardstock and mounted it onto a top-folding A2-sized white card base. I popped the three “windows” onto the card front in a row with foam adhesive and added another fun and fitting sentiment foiled in gold using this month’s Glimmer of the Month Kit.
GLIMMER KIT OF THE MONTH
This month’s Glimmer Kit of the Month, “Summertime Sentiments” contains 1 Glimmer plate that can be used to foil seven sweet sentiments and a coordinating die to cut them all out in one pass. I applied Satin Pewter Hot Foil to white cardstock using the plate from the kit and cut all of the sentiments out for this simple and pretty card for a friend.
The background was created by applying Satin Pewter Hot Foil to a piece of patterned paper from the Rainbow Wood 6×6 Paper Pad (patterned paper from Paper Rose Studio foils beautifully!) using this month’s BetterPress of the Month Kit before adding it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. To complete the card, I picked a few of my favorite greetings from the set and added them on top with more foam adhesive.
EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH
And here (again!) is this month’s super versatile Embossing Folder of the Month, “Summertime Waves“. It embosses a simple and subtle wavy line pattern that is perfect for just about any kind of card. To get the effect shown here, I blended Peacock Feathers and Salvaged Patina Distress Ink up from the bottom of a piece of white cardstock, embossed the panel using the folder, and then rubbed a white inkpad over the raised design to make the waves a little frothy.
Once trimmed to 4″ x 5.25″, I added the embossed panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. Then I stamped the key fob, insert, and sentiment from the Paradise Resort Stamp Set in black alcohol-friendly ink, colored the images with Copic markers, and cut them out with the coordinating dies before popping them up on the card front with foam adhesive.
3D EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH
This month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, “Summertime Citrus Twist” is such a fun design and perfect for all of your summer cards. I used the folder to create both my background and focal points for this simple card for a friend. I started by embossing a piece of white cardstock using the folder (check out all of that dimension!) before matting it with Mirror Gold Cardstock and adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.
There are three citrus slices in the foreground of this folder that are slightly different sizes…perfect for creating a cluster as a focal point! I embossed Persimmon, Rainforest, and Sunkissed Cardstock using each of these slices and then fussycut them out before adding some shading with Distress Inks for a realistic look. The leaves are from the Sitting Pretty Die Set (a Small Die of the Month from a few month’s back that is on sale now!). To finish off the card, I added one more fitting sentiment from this month’s Glimmer Kit of the Month foiled in gold.
BETTERPRESS OF THE MONTH
This month’s BetterPress of the Month Kit, “Summertime Palms“, contains 3 press plates that create a gorgeous palm leaf background as well as two pretty sentiments with coordinating dies. The palm background looks amazing both foiled and pressed in multiple colors, but I choosed to add it as a shadow on top of a brightly-colored inked background instead. I first blended Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon, and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink onto a piece of white cardstock before pressing the image onto the panel using BetterPress Black Ink.
I matted the panel with Onyx Cardstock and added it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Then I pressed and cut one of the sentiments from the kit and popped it up between the leaves with foam adhesive. To embellish, I added a few Crystal Mix Gems.
STENCIL OF THE MONTH
This month’s Stencil of the Month, “Summertime Graphics” is a set of 5 A2 background layering stencils that creates three different summertime backgrounds – a cute beach ball design, a sun peeking out over a layered ocean, and a sun peeking out from some clouds. I used the stencils to apply Salvaged Patina, Squeezed Lemonade, and Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink to white cardstock for this colorful birthday card.
The hippo is from this month’s Small Die of the Month Kit and I cut him from Purple Mist and Pink Sand Cardstock, giving him a cute inner tube cut out of more patterned paper from the Just Beachy Paper Pad. To assemble the card, I stamped one of the fun sentiments from this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month onto white cardstock using black ink and cut it out with one of the Arch Labels & Tag Dies. Once added to the center of the card front with foam adhesive, I popped my hippo up above the sentiment with more foam adhesive.
WAX SEAL OF THE MONTH
And here is a look at this month’s Wax Seal of the Month Kit. The “Sun & Waves” Wax Seal Kit contains one pretty wax seal stamp as well as a bag of coordinating wax beads. I melted Spruce Wax Beads before pressing them with the stamp to create this pretty seal that matches my background perfectly. To bring out the design more, I added gold metallic marker to the raised design of the seal.
I was really loving how well the Just Beachy Paper Pad coordinated with this month’s kits, so I brought it out again and cut another pattern from the pad and white cardstock using the Nested Postage Labels & Tag Die Set and wrapped the panel with some gold metallic cord before adding it on top of some Lagoon Cardstock. To complete the card, I popped the wax seal up on top of the twine and added another pretty foiled sentiment made with this month’s Glimmer of the Month Kit.
BONUS ITEM (DELUXE CABOODLE CLUB ONLY!)
Lastly, I loved this month’s Bonus Item so much (exclusive to Deluxe Caboodle Club members only!), I had to make a quick card using it as well. The Summertime Slice Die Set contains 9 dies that build this adorable dancing watermelon slice. I cut him out of various colored cardstocks and assembled him with liquid glue for this simple and cute retirement card.
The background panel was a scrap from when I was creating my card with this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, and I matted it with Mirror Gold Cardstock before adding it to an A2-sized white card base. After popping my watermelon slice up on top of the card front with foam adhesive, I added a sentiment from both this month’s Small Die of the Month Kit as well as the Glimmer of the Month Kit. This guy is so adorable!
