Welcome to the weekend friends! The July 2023 Club Kits from Spellbinders have been revealed and we are celebrating Christmas in July this month! I know, I know…summer just started if you’re in the northern hemisphere and it’s hard to think about Christmas this early, but it’ll be here before you know it and we need to be crafty-prepared! Today I’m sharing nine card projects featuring the Large Die of the Month, Small Die of the Month, Glimmer Kit of the Month, Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, Embossing Folder of the Month, 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, Stitching Die of the Month, Clear Stamp & Die of the Month Kits, and the BRAND NEW BetterPress of the Month Kit and Wax Seal of the Month Kit.
Note: The new Subscription Sign-Up Window opens on the 6th of each month and closes on the 27th. After existing club members subscriptions have been processed, if there is additional inventory remaining, then they will be made available for new subscriptions and will have limited availability. Continuing Subscriptions will charge on the 5th of each month. This means existing Club Members will still be able to cancel subscriptions or make edits to payment or shipping info up until the 4th of each month.
LARGE DIE OF THE MONTH
This month’s Large Die of the Month Kit, “Stocking Full of Joy“, is a massive set of 18 dies that can be used to create a beautifully-detailed Christmas stocking with greenery, candy canes, a gingerbread man, and even a cute gnome to fill it. I used most of the dies in the set to make this vintage-inspired 5″ x 7″ Christmas card, but so many of the elements can be used on their own as well!
I cut tons of the holly branches and mistletoe sprigs from Forest and Sage Cardstock while the stocking, candy canes, and gingerbread man were cut from Crimson, Phone Booth, Dune, and white cardstock. Once assembled, I inked the edges of all of the die-cuts with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to age them a bit. The background was created from Alabaster Cardstock using this month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month and inked around the edges as well. I love that this set can be used for vintage and modern cards just by changing up the color schemes!
SMALL DIE OF THE MONTH
This month’s Small Die of the Month Kit, “Layered Poinsettia Tree“, is another beautiful set perfect for elegant Christmas cards. The kit contains 16 cutting dies that allow you to cut several gorgeous layered floral bunches that can be arranged within a conical border shape to resemble a Christmas tree. I left the tree border and Christmas star off to create this soft and pretty floral tree card perfect for sending an elegant holiday hello.
The background floral bunches were cut out of Brushed Silver Cardstock three times and layered up before adding the Pink Sand poinsettias and Waterfall berries on top. I embossed a piece of white cardstock with this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month before arranging the tree shape on top and adhering it directly to the card front with liquid glue. The sentiment from the set was then cut from Waterfall Cardstock and popped up in the top corner with foam adhesive.
GLIMMER KIT OF THE MONTH
This month’s Glimmer Kit of the Month, “Glimmering Christmas Flora” contains 3 Glimmer plates that can be used to foil a beautiful winter floral frame and two pretty sentiments as well as three dies to cut the center of the frame and sentiments out. I applied Polished Brass Hot Foil to white cardstock and colored the images with Copic Markers for this easy and pretty Christmas card.
Once colored, I trimmed the panel down to 4.125″ x 5.375″ and cut the center out of the frame using the coordinating die before matting it with Phone Booth Cardstock on a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Then I added the foiled sentiment inside the frame and a splash of Gold Mix Gems to finish off the card.
STITCHING DIE OF THE MONTH
This month’s Stitching Die of the Month is another beautiful one with simple stitching perfect for beginners! This month’s kit, “Stitched Snowflake Card Front“, is a set of three dies that create a beautiful pierced background pattern and oversized snowflake that you can easily stitch or leave as-is. I cut the snowflake out of Brushed White Cardstock and stitched it up with silver metallic thread for tons of shimmer and shine on this simple and pretty winter card.
The background design was cut into Purple Mist Cardstock, and I inked around the edges with Wilted Violet Distress Ink before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Once the snowflake was adhered on top with foam adhesive, I cut a sentiment out of Cosmic Sky Cardstock using the Tiny Merriment Add-On Die Set and popped it up in the center. A couple of Crystal Mix Gems finish off this simple and pretty card.
CLEAR STAMP & DIE OF THE MONTH KIT
This month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Kit, “Pine Cones & Holly” is a set of 8 stamps that contains another beautiful winter floral frame and several pretty sentiments to go inside of it. If your subscription includes the coordinating dies, you’ll also get 9 dies to cut the images (inside and outside of the frame) and sentiments out. I stamped the frame onto white cardstock with black alcohol-friendly ink and colored it with Copic markers for this pretty Christmas card.
Once colored, I cut the inside and outside of the frame out using the coordinating dies, then cut the same shape out of Mirror Gold Cardstock to add behind the frame for a shiny shadow effect. I popped the frame up on top of some Phone Booth Cardstock that I had embossed with this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month and added sentiments that I had stamped in Versamark Ink, embossed with gold embossing powder, and cut out with the coordinating dies. This set makes such an easy and elegant card!
3D EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH
This month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month is so beautiful, you’ll be using it on all of your holiday cards (I’ve used it on three so far)! “Adorning The Tree” is a gorgeous pine sprig and ornament folder that you can move your cardstock around in to capture all of the different designs for cards that never look the same. I inked a panel of white cardstock with Spun Sugar, Festive Berries, and Aged Mahogany Distress Oxide Ink before embossing it with the Adorning The Tree Embossing Folder, then rubbed a white pigment ink pad over the raised areas to bring out the design a bit more.
After matting the background panel with Mirror Gold Cardstock, I added it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. The focal point is a sentiment from the Christmas Mailbox Greetings Glimmer Plate Set foiled in gold and cut out using one of the dies from the Essential Four Petal Labels Die Set. I framed the sentiment with poinsettias from this month’s Small Die of the Month and holly leaves from this month’s Large Die of the Month and added Gold Mix Gems to embellish.
WAX SEAL OF THE MONTH (BRAND NEW!)
I created a similar background to show off the BRAND NEW Wax Seal of the Month Kit. The “Poinsettia Joy” Wax Seal Kit contains one beautiful oval holiday wax seal stamp as well as a bag of Crimson Wax Beads. I stamped my seal using the gorgeous beads provided and added gold metallic marker to bring out the design a bit more. I added a secondary sentiment foiled in Gold Hot Foil using the Glitter Wishes Glimmer Plate Set.
To create the background, I applied Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles, and Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink to a piece of white cardstock before embossing it with the Adorning The Tree 3D Embossing Folder. Once matted with Mirror Gold Cardstock and adhered to a top-folding A2-sized white card base, I cut Forest and Mirror Gold Cardstock using the Sealed Holly Sprigs and Sealed Botanical Sprigs Die Set to tuck behind my pretty wax seal. I LOVE this new subscription club option!
BETTERPRESS OF THE MONTH (BRAND NEW!)
Speaking of new clubs, I have one more new option to share…the BetterPress of the Month Kit! This month’s kit, “Poinsettia Frame“, contains 2 press plates that create a beautiful poinsettia and holly frame as well as a pretty script sentiment. I pressed both of the plates onto Bisque Cotton Cardstock using Tawny Brown BetterPress Ink to create a muted, almost vintage Christmas card.
Once pressed onto the cardstock, I quickly colored the design with just a hint of color using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and a blender pen. To finish off the card, I simply trimmed the panel down to 4.125″ x 5.375″ and matted it with Fern Cardstock before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. I still can’t get over how easy it is to create simple and elegant cards with this system!
EMBOSSING FOLDER OF THE MONTH
Lastly, let me finally introduce you to this month’s Embossing Folder of the Month, “Christmas Wrap Pattern“. It embosses a pretty geometric pattern resembling snowflakes, but it’s so subtle it really could be used for cards all year long. I embossed a piece of Dune Cardstock with the Christmas Wrap Pattern embossing folder and rubbed a white pigment ink pad over the design before cutting it up a bit for this simple and cute holiday card.
Since I hadn’t had a chance to use him yet, I cut the gnome and a candy cane using this month’s Large Die of the Month Kit and added them to my peekaboo window strip. To finish off the card I combined sentiments from both the Large Die and Clear Stamp of the Month Kits.
I hope you enjoyed these pretty holiday card projects and thanks so much for stopping by today. You can subscribe to any of the Spellbinders Clubs starting on the 6th of the month (including the BRAND NEW BetterPress and Wax Seal Clubs!) and never miss a great kit like these again!
