Today I’m sharing a Christmas card with tons of sparkle and shine thanks to the new Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens from Crafter’s Companion and foil cardstocks from CutCardStock. If you are scrambling to come up with a last minute card, this one comes together rather quickly because it incorporates simple techniques like watercoloring and die-cutting.
Even though the image is the focal point of my card, I actually began with this gorgeous sentiment die (from the new “Festive Wonder Collection” by Sara Davies) and the idea of lots of foil to come up with this card. “Seasons Greetings” has always been my favorite holiday sentiment in the visual sense. I would never say it to someone because I’d probably sound pretentious or silly, so I think it must just be how it looks in script lettering…so pretty and classy! Here I’ve cut my base card layer from red foil cardstock, an ornate frame from gold foil cardstock, and that beautiful sentiment from green foil cardstock.
This simple but elegant-looking image is called Linear Baubles (Stamp-It Australia) and I stamped it with Versamark ink onto Crafter’s Companion Watercolor Cardstock, covered it with gold embossing powder, and melted it with my heat tool. Coloring these was super easy with my Sparkle Pens…I just added a little sparkly color in the most shaded areas of the image and pulled that color out with the clear sparkle pen to create depth with allover sparkle. I was amazed at how well the pens blended on watercolor cardstock…and this is just one technique you can use them for!
Here’s a better look at that sparkle…a photograph really doesn’t do it justice, but I’ve done my best!
To assemble my card, I adhered a white embossed panel (“Snowy Corner” – Festive Wonder Collection) to my red foil mat layer with tape runner and popped my other elements up on top with foam tabs. I love how the foil cardstock really glams up my quick card!
Thanks for stopping by today and I’d love to hear your comments!
