Have you seen all of the cute new Halloween dies from Rubbernecker? I wanted to use so many on a card today that they just wouldn’t fit on an A2-sized card…the slimline format is perfect for these situations! With tons of floating and flying creatures, I thought it would be fun to have them creepy-crawling up a Halloween-style wall for this spooky card.
CREATING THE DIE CUT BACKGROUND
- Trim a piece of white cardstock to about 8.25″ x 3.25″.
- Apply Magenta, Crimson, and Apricot ink down the panel with a blending brush.
- Cut the panel using the Slimline OPC Diagonal Die.
DIECUTTING THE HALLOWEEN SHAPES
- Die cut cardstocks using Rubbernecker Halloween dies:
- Scarecrow die: purple, green, yellow, and brown shimmer cardstocks
- Jack-O-Lanterns die: orange, green, and black shimmer cardstocks
- Owl and Halloween Tree die: brown, orange, and yellow shimmer cardstocks
- Bats and Spiderweb die: grey shimmer cardstock and silver vellum
- Cats die: grey shimmer cardstock
- Camp Fire die: silver vellum (Use the two largest flame die-cuts as ghosts.)
- Assemble die-cuts with liquid glue and add subtle details and shadows to the each with Copic markers. Shimmer cardstock is coated, so the markers won’t blend perfectly on it, but it adds a fun effect for Halloween cards.
CREATING THE SENTIMENT SIGN
- Stamp the Happy Halloween sentiment onto white cardstock using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.
- Die cut the sentiment out using the smallest die from the Nested Deckle Rectangle Dies. To create a die-cut smaller than the actual die, first position the die where you would like in the upper left corner and run it through your diecutting machine. Then, position the die over the lower right corner of the resulting die-cut and run it through your diecutting machine again.
CARD ASSEMBLY
- Adhere the ink blended background die-cut to a piece of black cardstock measuring 8″ x 3″ with foam adhesive.
- Now secure the whole card front to a top-folding white card base measuring 8.5″ x 3.5″ with tape runner.
- Weave the sentiment panel behind the rungs of the background die-cut and slip the Scarecrow behind it before adhering down with liquid glue.
- Arrange the other die-cuts around the card, weaving some into the background panel if desired, and adhere them down with liquid glue.
I hope you enjoyed this fun and spooky slimline card and thanks so much for stopping by today. Be sure to check out Rubbernecker Stamps on Instagram or visit their Facebook Fan Group for tons of inspiration!
