New Christmas Stamps & Dies from Simon Hurley

Welcome to the weekend friends!  Yesterday, Simon Hurley released his new Christmas Stamps & Dies in collaboration with Spellbinders and I’m excited to share a couple of projects made with two of these fun bundles.  (Check out the entire July release here!)  This collection contains several stamp sets full of classic holiday images with coordinating dies as well as some gorgeous background stamps I can’t wait to get my hands on.  Here I created three cards with simple coloring techniques and a cozy Christmas vibe.

FROSTY HOLIDAY VILLAGE CARD

The Winter Wonderland Stamp & Die Set was the first to catch my eye and I ended up using it on all three of my cards!  Here I stamped the beautiful village image onto white cardstock using some blue ink and added just a hint of frosty color with a slightly lighter blue Copic marker in the shadow areas.  When stamps are this detailed and contain lots of solid areas, I love to add just one color for some more depth and interest.  Once finished, I cut the image out using one of the dies from the Essential Four Petal Labels Die Set.

To create the background, I applied Prism Hot Foil to a piece of white cardstock using the Geo Snowflakes Glimmer Plate and then blended Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink down the panel.  After trimming the piece to 4″ x 5.25″, I adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner and popped the stamped image on top with foam adhesive.  A sentiment foiled in Cobalt Hot Foil using the Yana’s Christmas Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set was added to finish off the card.

CUTE SANTA SHAKER CARD

Next I thought it would be fun to use one of the adorable Santas from the Silly Santas Stamp & Die Bundle along with the gorgeous houses from the Winter Wonderland Stamp & Die Bundle.  I stamped one of the Santas from the set onto white cardstock with red ink and added some quick shading and details all over the image with Prismacolor Pencils, then cut it out with the coordinating die.

The shaker was created by stamping the house scene onto a top-folding A2-sized white card base with blue ink.  Then I cut the window out of a piece of Forest Cardstock with the coordinating die, embossed a sentiment from the Silly Santas Stamp Set underneath, and glued some acetate behind the window before adding foam tape and Rock Candy Glitter.  Once adhered to the white card base over the house scene, I popped the cute Santa off to the side of the window with foam adhesive.

COZY CHRISTMAS CABIN CARD

Lastly, I wanted to use one more beautiful image from the Winter Wonderland Stamp & Die Bundle to create this simple and cozy Christmas cabin card.  I stamped the house onto kraft cardstock using brown ink and added highlights with a white Prismacolor Pencil and shadows with a brown Prismacolor Pencil for a really simple, but pretty effect.

To create the background, I embossed a piece of Fern Cardstock with the In The Pines Embossing Folder and added Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink to the debossed side with a brayer to darken the “background” more.  After matting it with white cardstock (to make the highlights on the image pop), I adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized kraft card base.  Then I just added the cabin and sentiment to the front of the card with foam adhesive.
