Bright Summer Cards With New Stamps & Dies from Simon Hurley

Welcome to a fresh new week friends!  I’m excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new Simon Hurley Summer Stamp & Die Collection from Spellbinders.  (You can check out the entire June release here!)  This collection contains four stamp sets full of fun summer-inspired images all bundled with coordinating dies.  I used two of the stamp and die bundles from the collection to create three bright summer cards for different occasions.

WATERCOLOR BOUQUET HELLO CARD

The Watercolor Flower Stamp & Die Bundle is full of gorgeous floral silhouette images that you can stamp using fun techniques to create a pretty watercolor look.  For this card, I used my MISTI to stamp each image a couple of times using Distress Oxide Inks, adding darker inks in certain areas of the stamps by dabbing the image with a sponge dauber (and then stamping on top of the original lighter layer).  Then I cut all of my pretty shaded images out with the coordinating dies.

To create the background, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″, embossed it with the Mandala Blooms 3D Embossing Folder, and added it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive.  After building the floral bouquet in the center of the card front, I adhered it down with a mix of liquid glue and foam adhesive for tons of dimension.  To finish off the card, I added a pretty sentiment from the stamp set and a few Crystal Mix Gems.

SUMMER CITRUS THANK YOU CARD

Next I wanted to have a little fun with the Sketched Citrus Background Stamp.  I started by trimming a piece of Teal Topaz Cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″, stamped the Sketched Citrus image over the entire panel with Versamark Ink, and embossed the image using clear embossing powder for a pretty tone-on-tone look.  Then I stamped the image again onto white cardstock using black alcohol-friendly ink and colored two of the oranges with Copic markers.  There ARE dies for some of the images within the background stamp, but I chose the wrong ones when coloring, so I had to fussycut mine out (don’t be like me…plan ahead, lol).

To assemble the card, I added the embossed panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner, then trimmed a smaller white panel at an angle to place over top of it with foam adhesive.  I foiled a sentiment from the Must Have Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set in Teal Hot Foil and added it with the colored fruits along the edge of the panel using foam adhesive.

FAUX WATERCOLOR FLORAL FIELD CARD

Lastly, I pulled out one of my favorite techniques to use with stamps like the Watercolor Flower Stamp Set and created a faux watercolor field of flowers for this easy card.  I placed a piece of watercolor cardstock in my MISTI and colored directly onto the stamp with Tombow Dual Brush Pens, stamping the image repeatedly until I had all transferred the entire image and all of the colors I wanted to use.  Then I took a damp waterbrush and blended the colors in the stamped imaged until I achieved a loose watercolor look.

To finish off the card, I simply stamped another sentiment from the Watercolor Flowers Stamp Set onto the top right corner of the panel, matted it with Onyx Cardstock, and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.  Then I added a few Crystal Mix Gems to embellish.
