Hello again friends! Simon Hurley recently released his new Fall Cardmaking Stamps & Dies Collection in collaboration with Spellbinders and I’m excited to share a couple of projects made with some of these fun bundles. (Check out the rest of the September release here…so much amazing stuff this month!) This collection contains two stamp sets full of beautiful autumn images with coordinating dies as well as an adorable feline stamp & die bundle. Here I created four cards with different background techniques and a warm autumn vibe.
FANGTASTIC BATS HALLOWEEN CARD
The Fall Sampler Stamp & Die set is full of beautiful fall and Halloween imagery with folk pattern details and I loved it so much I used it twice already! I started by stamping the bats from the set repeatedly using different purple shades of Distress Oxide Inks and my MISTI to get a multicolor image before cutting them out with the coordinating dies. The sentiment, also from the set, was embossed in white on Onyx Cardstock.
To create the background, I trimmed a piece of Onyx Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″, embossed it with the Tile Reflection 3D Embossing Folder, masked off a 1.5″ section down the left side, and lightly rubbed Silver Lining Lunar Paste over it with my finger to bring out some of the texture. After adding two thin strips of Mirror Silver Cardstock on either side of the enhanced section, I mounted the panel on to a top-folding A2-sized white card base and popped the images and sentiment up on top with foam adhesive.
THANKSGIVING PUMPKIN CARD
Next I took the pumpkins from the Fall Sampler Stamp & Die Set and stamped the images repeatedly using various orange inks and my MISTI to achieve the shaded result shown. Once I was satisfied with the coloration, I cut them out with the coordinating dies and embossed a sentiment from the set in gold on some Pomegranate Cardstock.
The background was created by embossing a piece of Pomegranate Cardstock with the Flower Frenzy 3D Embossing Folder before matting it with Mirror Gold Cardstock and adhering it all to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. To finish off the card, I added the pumpkins and sentiment to the front with foam adhesive and embellished with Gold Mix Gems.
PURRFECT BIRTHDAY CARD
I can’t get over all of the adorable cat images in the Purrfect Cats Stamp & Die Set! I chose one that closely resembled my own floof, stamped it onto white cardstock using black alcohol-friendly ink, colored it with Copic markers, and cut it with using the coordinating die. Then I stamped all of the other cat images onto a piece of Dune Cardstock using closely matching ink for a tone-on-tone look.
Once stamped, I embossed the panel with the Dazzling Dots Embossing Folder, matted it with Pomegranate Cardstock, and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. To complete the card, I added the adorable cat to the front on top of a piece of vellum cut with one of the Postage Edge Circles Dies and embossed a sentiment from the set in white on Pomegranate Cardstock.
AUTUMN BLESSINGS CARD
Lastly, I thought the images in the Leaf Prints Stamp & Die Set were so gorgeous and played around with all of them while stamping them in various brightly-colored Distress Oxide Inks onto kraft cardstock. I chose four of my favorites and cut them out with the coordinating dies for this simple and pretty autumn blessings card.
The background was created by trimming a piece of Pomegranate Cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and inking it with both Lumberjack Plaid and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink to create an ombre effect. To create the splatters, I diluted a little Gold Rush Lunar Paste with water and splattered it onto the background with an old liner brush. I finished off this card by stamping one of the pretty sentiments from the Fall Sampler Stamp Set onto kraft cardstock using Versafine Clair Acorn Ink.
