It’s finally starting to look a little like Spring where I am now…so lately I’ve really been starting to crave pretty pale colors…and Hershey’s Marshmallow Eggs. 🙂 Today I wanted to share a card featuring stamps from the new “Puddles Boy” and “Puddles Girl” sets by Pink & Main. I also wanted to try out some watercoloring again for fear that I would forever be stuck in a Copic or Prismacolor rut.
So, I stamped the boy and various raindrops from the “Puddles Boy” set in Versamark ink on Tim Holtz watercolor paper and heat embossed these images in white. Then, I took color directly from my Derwent Inktense Pencils using my waterbrush (Faber-Castell) and painted my image with that intense “paint”, rather than coloring the image first and adding water. This left me with some bright and happy springtime colors.
I wanted the background to be just a subtle wash of colors, so I diluted some Broken China and Weathered Wood Distress Inks to create the blue sky and grey pavement. The sentiment was taken from the “Puddles Girl” set and embossed with matching white powder. To finish off the card, I just added some sequin “raindrops” (Pretty Pink Posh) and a small red enamel heart (My Mind’s Eye) to match the boy’s umbrella.
I’ll be back on Friday with a new Silhouette project. In the meantime, I’d love to hear your comments!
So cute! I love the color choices. Spring is officially here in NC! That means lots of rain for us.
Thank you Sharon! We’ve been getting tons of rain here lately too…but the trees are getting blossoms finally so I’m happy to see that!
