I’m back this week with a shaker card made using the new “Bear Hugs” and “Somebunny” stamp sets released this month by Pink & Main. I was inspired by the upcoming 4th of July holiday, but if you’re not from the United States, I think red, white, and blue are also just gorgeous summertime colors!
I started by stamping the little boy image from the “Bear Hugs” set in waterproof ink (“Stamps by Judith” black ink) and colored him in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a Faber-Castell Deluxe Waterbrush. The sentiment (from “Somebunny“) was stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed in white on a stitched flag shape (Lil’ Inker Designs) cut from some red cardstock.
Side note: I’m still practicing with these markers, but so far I really don’t see too many benefits to them versus other water-based markers like Tombow Dual Brush Pens…the jury is still out I guess! If you find yourself enabled by other bloggers to purchase them like I was, I would definitely recommend the smallest set possible to find out if you like them first (especially if you already have other similar markers). Of all the types of craft supplies, I rarely regret purchasing new coloring mediums though…there are so many ways to use them and it helps keep things fun and interesting in the craft room!
I created my shaker element by adhering some leftover acetate packaging to the back of a panel of patterned paper (We R Memory Keepers) that I die-cut with a stitched circle die (Lil’ Inker Designs). Then I added foam tape around the circle, dropped in some red, white, and blue sequins and stars from Pretty Pink Posh, and mounted the whole panel on top of a piece of royal blue cardstock. I finished the card off with a small twist of red, white, and blue twine (Two Berry Creative) and attached the entire card front to 110# Neenah Solar White cardbase.
Thanks for stopping by today and I would love to hear your comments. I hope you’ll come back on Friday for a new Silhouette garden project too!
I have also entered this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge found here.
What an adorable shaker card – such a fun design.
