Wedding and anniversary cards can be tough to create because of their often intricate and elaborate designs…but with thick and high-quality cardstock (like the stuff I love from CutCardStock!), a simple and pretty card like this still makes a big impact.
Start by trimming a piece of Basis Black Cardstock to 5.5″ x 8.5″ and scoring it down the center to create a side-folding A2 card base. Then, trim Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock (80 lb) to 4″ x 5.5″.
Place a stencil (The Crafter’s Workshop – “Mini Rose Garden”) on top of the Neenah Classic Crest Solar White panel and use low-tack tape to secure it in place. Then, press a Versamark ink pad all over the cardstock, smooshing the ink through the stencil until you achieve even coverage (this may take a few passes).
Remove the stencil and add clear or white embossing powder to the entire panel (I used clear powder from Hero Arts here to allow the white cardstock to show through). Melt the embossing powder with a heat tool and allow to cool.
Apply Spun Sugar Distress Ink all over the panel to bring out the embossed floral design, concentrating color around the edges for a little depth.
Tie thin satin ribbon into a bow around the bottom of the embossed panel before adding enough foam strips to the back to support the card front. Die-cut a tiny sentiment (Little B) out of both Basis Black Cardstock and Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.
Die-cut the Eiffel Tower (Hero Arts – “Paper Layering Eiffel Tower”) from Basis Black Cardstock and then add a coat of all-over shimmer with a clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen.
Since the card base is black, you can either write your message inside with a white gel pen or die-cut a panel from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White to adhere inside with tape runner.
Remove the backing from the foam strips and press the embossed background onto the card base, leaving a quarter-inch strip of black showing on the right side. Adhere the black sentiment layer behind the white layer to form a shadow and glue to the front with strong liquid glue. The tower can be adhered either with foam tabs or liquid glue.
