Hello friends! I’m excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new Photosynthesis Collection by Simon Hurley from Spellbinders. (Check out the latest release here…so much good stuff!) This collection contains beautiful floral and bold geometric dies and Glimmer plates perfect for springtime or anytime cards. I used the products in the collection in several ways to create six bright cards for many different occasions.
FLORAL BOUQUET LOVE CARD
The Floral Stems Die Set contains a whopping 23 dies that can be used to create five different types of flowers complete with multiple stem and leaf options. I cut orange, white, green, and pink cardstocks here to build a couple of daisies and a coneflower and applied a little Distress Ink with a sponge dauber to the pieces for some contrast and shading.
To create the background, I used the Zig Zag Chevron Die to just lightly emboss a piece of white cardstock (use the plate configuration for embossing a die that works for your diecutting machine) and then blended Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink over the panel for an ombre effect. After adhering the floral bouquet in the center of the card front, I added a sentiment foiled in gold using the Must Have Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set as well as a few Gold Mix Gems.
MODERN LILY VASE CARD
You can easily use the beautiful floral stems on their own, but Simon designed a fun set of containers to hold them as well! I added a single lily stem created with the Floral Stems Die Set and place it inside one of the six unique vases from the Ceramic Vases Die Set (you can buy both dies sets as a bundle here!).
For the background, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and applied Skybright, Teal, and Cobalt Hot Foil down the lower half of the panel using the Modern Stripes Glimmer Plate Set. Once the flower and vase were adhered to the left side of the card front with foam adhesive, I added another pretty sentiment to the top corner foiled in Cobalt Hot Foil using the Must Have Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set.
HELLO VASES CARD
With so many fun container options, I couldn’t put the Ceramic Vases Die Set down yet, so I cut a few more designs out of Waterfall, Pink Sand, and Wild Berry Cardstock and added some shading with Distress Inks. Then I cut a bunch of leaves and stems out of Rainforest and Fern Cardstock using the Floral Stems Die Set and arranged them inside the vases to look like leafy houseplants.
The background was created by applying Gold Hot Foil to a piece of white cardstock using one of the plates from the Modern Stripes Glimmer Plate Set to form a tabletop. I inked the bottom edge of the panel with a little Spun Sugar Distress Ink and the top edge with a little Salty Ocean Distress Ink for some more atmosphere. Once the vases were adhered, I added another greeting from the Must Have Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and a few Gold Mix Gems.
FLORAL HUGS CARD
Next I wanted to see if I could use the blooms from the Floral Stems Die Set without their long stems and still create a pretty bouquet. I cut the daisy, mum, and lily designs out, shaded with Distress Inks, and assembled them with liquid glue. After arranging them in a small clump 😀 , I added tons of the leaves for a fuller bouquet.
I cut white cardstock using the Zig Zag Chevron Die and adhered it directly to a top-folding A2-sized white card base for tons of texture and added the flowers on top with foam adhesive. To finish the card off, I applied Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Must Have Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and embellished with Gold Mix Gems.
CHEVRON THANK YOU CARD
Now let’s make that Zig Zag Chevron Die the star of the show! I cut white, Mirror Gold, Waterfall, Teal Topaz, Lagoon, Blue Spruce, and Cosmic Sky Cardstock with the die and adhered the white outline directly to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with liquid glue.
I then carefully pieced a few rows of each color back into the outline (separated by a thin gold row) and left the top third of the panel all white. The sentiment was foiled in gold using the Must Have Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and added with a bit of foam adhesive to the top. I love how simple and bold this turned out!
DAFFODIL WINDOW CARD
Lastly, I thought the Daffodil Frame Die Set was so beautiful and wanted to create a simple and pretty hello card with it. I started by trimming a piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and cut the daffodil insert out of the left side. After coloring the stems with a few green markers, I pieced the leaves and flowers (cut from Rainforest, Sunkissed, and Persimmon Cardstock) on top of the window with liquid glue.
The panel behind the window was created by cutting Waterfall Cardstock with the frame die from the set, embossing it with the Geo Screen Embossing Folder, and inking the bottom two-thirds with Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Ink. After adhering the window panel over the background and onto a white card base with foam adhesive, I added another greeting foiled in teal using the Must Have Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and embellished with a few Crystal Mix Gems.
I hope you enjoyed these fun floral card projects and thanks so much for stopping by today. You can shop the Photosynthesis Collection now and create your own bold and modern cards for any occasion!
