Nordic Christmas Tree Card

I’ll be honest, I don’t usually start my Christmas cards this early.  But, when Hero Arts releases a sampling of pre-release products from their new winter collection (find out where you can get them here)…well, I can make an exception so that I can order and play with them right away!

This stamp set is called “Color Layering Nordic Tree” and I love its folksy charm!  For this card, I started by stamping three of the solid tree images in Tide Pool ink across a panel of some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.  Leaving those to dry a bit, I then stamped one of each of the three detail layers in the set using Red Royal ink on top of the solid trees.

After stamping a greeting from the set in Versamark ink onto some Paradise cardstock, I added white detail embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool.  Once the teal panel had been mounted on an A2-sized top-folding white card base, I matted the stamped panel with some Cranberry cardstock and then adhered it on top.  For a little added interest, I stamped the center tree again on a scrap of white cardstock, fussycut the image out, and popped it up on top of the card using foam squares.

Not quite finished playing with my new stamp set, I decided to re-create the same card in a different color scheme.  This time, I stamped the solid tree images from the set in Red Royal ink onto a panel of Environment Desert Storm Cardstock and set it aside to dry a bit.  Then, I stamped the detail layer of each tree in Versamark ink, covered it in white detail embossing powder, and melted it with my heat tool.

The card front was created with Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock this time, stamped with a greeting in Red Royal ink, and mounted onto an Environment Desert Storm A2-sized top-folding card base.  I kept this version a little simpler by omitting the dimensional center tree and simply matting the stamped panel with Cranberry cardstock before adhering it to the card front.

I love the bright colors of the first card, but this version reminds me a bit of gingerbread houses!  Which color scheme do you prefer?
