Welcome to the weekend friends! Today I wanted to share a little more holiday card inspiration with a couple of collections recently released by Spellbinders. Normally I try to devote a separate post to each new collection, but I realized that time has been flying and I’m running out of time if you want to grab any of these goodies for this year’s projects!
TIERED TRAY COLLECTION
The new Tiered Tray Collection by Becky Roberts is a smaller collection with cute dies to create your own little seasonal tray decor as well as a coordinating stamp set with some beautiful sentiments. I used the collection to create two different cards for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
CHRISTMAS TIERED TRAY CARD
I wanted to create a traditional tiered tray for this sweet Christmas card, so I started by cutting white woodgrain and Mirror Gold Cardstock with the Tiered Tray Die Set before adding some Pumice Stone Distress Ink for shading and assembling with liquid glue. Then I cut Phone Booth, Silver Fox, and Dune Cardstock using some of the different accessories in the Tiered Tray Decor Die Set, adding details to some with a white paint pen, and stamping a sentiment on the cutting board with the Seasonal Motifs Sentiments Stamp Set.
I trimmed a piece of Raindrop Cardstock to 4.125″ x 5.375″, embossed it with the Ski Lodge Embossing Folder, and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. After adding my tray and decor to the card front with foam adhesive, I embellished with some poinsettias, pine sprigs, and holly branches from the Floral Stag Die Set.
THANKSGIVING SERVING TRAY
There are some great autumn accessories in the Tiered Tray Decor Die Set as well, so I decided to create a Thanksgiving card next. This time, I used just the bottom tier die in the Tiered Tray Die Set to cut some kraft woodgrain cardstock for a serving tray, inking the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink for some depth. The pitcher, mugs, pumpkin, and flowers were all cut with the Tiered Tray Decor Die Set.
To create the background, I embossed Dune Cardstock with the Falling Leaves Embossing Folder, inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and matted it with Mirror Gold Cardstock before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. After adding my filled serving tray to the card front with foam adhesive, I popped a sentiment stamped with the Tiered Tray Sentiments Stamp Set up in the corner.
CHRISTMAS FLEA MARKET FINDS COLLECTION
The Christmas Flea Market Finds Collection by Cathe Holden is a beautiful vintage-inspired collection full of gorgeous die-cuts, pretty stamps, and even some fun deep etched dies that can be used to create cards or home decor. I used a bunch of different products in the collection to create three cards and a cute Christmas bowl.
CHRISTMAS STOCKING CARD
I loved this gorgeous vintage Christmas stocking die cut, so I decided to design a card around it first. I started by diecutting white cardstock and some plaid paper from the Home For The Holidays Paper Pad with one of the border dies from the Winter Borders Die Set before layering them up over some Poppy Field Cardstock.
Then I just arranged some of the die-cuts from the Christmas Pines Miscellany Die Cut Packs and adhered them down with liquid glue and foam adhesive for lots of dimension. I love the quality of these die-cuts…they are thick and printed beautifully!
WAX SEALED CHRISTMAS LETTER CARD
This pretty wax-sealed letter die-cut inspired me to pull out my actual wax seals again for a fun, layered Christmas card. I started by adhering a piece of patterned paper from the Home For The Holidays Paper Pad on top of a white card base and added a few die-cuts from the Christmas Pines Miscellany Die Cuts Pack. Then I created a coordinating wax seal using Red Wax Beads and the Do Not Open Wax Seal Stamp, painting the seal with a bit of gold marker.
I tucked a holly sprig in the back that I cut from Fern and Phone Booth Cardstock using the Sealed Holly Sprigs Die Set and added a small bow of red hemp cord to the tag die-cut. To finish the card off, I applied Matte Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Joyful Christmas Sentiments Glimmer Plate, cut out all of the sentiments with the coordinating die, and popped it up in the lower corner with foam adhesive.
VINTAGE CHRISTMAS TREE CARD
Even though the dies in the collection were meant for making those really cute bowls, I thought they’d also work great as background panels. I cut Dune Cardstock using the rounded edge die from the Vintage Square Base Bowl Die Set, stamped a few images onto it with the Compliments of the Season Stamp Set in light tan ink, and stitched the edges with thick red yarn. Then I popped that gorgeous vintage Christmas tree die-cut up on top.
The background was created by layering a few different papers from the Home For The Holidays Paper Pad. For a few more special details, I added some die-cuts from the Christmas Pines Miscellany Die Cuts Pack and stamped a sentiment using the Compliments of the Season Stamp Set.
VINTAGE HANDCRAFTED CHRISTMAS BOWL
And I couldn’t help but try out one of the seriously cute handcrafted bowls…I remember my grandparents making these! I adhered some of the different designs from the Home For The Holidays Paper Pad to Phone Booth Cardstock to stiffen it up and cut out all of the panels using the Vintage Hexagon Base Bowl Die Set. You can do some really fancy crochet stitches to make these bowls pop (check out the Spellbinders YouTube channel for those!), but I opted for a very simple stitching with thick red yard…just how I remember them from my childhood!
WINTER WONDERLAND COLLECTION
Lastly, I wanted to share some really quick and easy holiday cards made with the Winter Wonderland Collection. I don’t know about you, but every year around the holidays I have grand plans for all of the handmade projects I’m going to complete and I just can’t get to many of them. The Winter Wonderland Collection is full of beautiful patterned paper, die-cuts, and golden sentiment stickers that make it easy to create quick and pretty tags, cards, and more when you’re running out of time, but still want to get crafty.
This first card uses some of the die-cuts from both the Winter Wonderland Printed Die Cut Pack and the Winter Wonderland Printed Sentiment Die Cut Pack (the sentiment pack is also perfect for Christmas tags!). I just popped a bunch up on top of some pretty foiled paper from the Winter Wonderland Paper Pad.
A couple of patterned papers from the paper pad make up the background here, and I created a mini winter scene using the Winter Wonderland Printed Die Cut Pack above a foiled sentiment from the sentiment die-cut pack.
There are tons of pretty florals in the printed die-cut pack…I arranged them into a wreath here on top of some more patterned paper. Then I added a pretty gold puffy sentiment sticker below from the Christmas Glitter Sentiment Stickers pack.
Lastly, this uber simple card is just a couple of die-cuts on top of some really pretty foiled paper. I love how the foiled accents in this collection kick projects up a notch.
