Do you have summer birthdays approaching and you’re looking for inspiration? I love the look of metallic gold and silver in the heat of the summer and today I’m using alcohol inks on Bright Foil Cardstock to create a shiny ocean background for a cute birthday card.
Start by trimming Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock to 4.25″ x 11″, 0.5″ x 5.5″, and 1.75″ x 5.5″. Score the largest panel down the center to create a top-folding A2 card base.
Trim several panels of Silver Bright Foil Cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″. Drip alcohol inks in blues and greens on top of the cardstock and blot around the piece with alcohol blending solution and a felt blender. I like to leave empty spaces in my backgrounds so that some of the metallic silver comes shining through.
Stamp a sentiment onto the 1.75″ x 5.5″ white panel in Versamark ink, add gold embossing powder and melt with a heat tool. Trim out two 0.25″ x 5.5″ strips of Gold Bright Foil Cardstock to add as a border on the white panels.
Adhere the gold strips to each white panel with tape runner, then pop the panels up on top of the inky background piece with foam tabs as shown. Adhere the entire panel to the card base with tape runner.
Stamp beachy images in alcohol-friendly ink onto some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock and color them in with Copic markers.
Pop the images up over the inky panel using foam tabs. Add clear droplets to embellish the card.
