Autumn will be here soon enough, but before it gets too late I have a few more fun summertime products I want to play with and projects I want to complete. The new Marvelous Mermaids Collection by Jane Davenport from Spellbinders features gorgeous sea creatures in Jane’s signature whimsical style. I used a few products from the collection to create some clean and simple cards, perfect for sending a late summer hello.
The She Sells Seashells stamp set is chock full of beautifully detailed images…so if you’re not a colorist, these are perfect for you! I started by stamping all of the images in Versamark ink onto white cardstock, covered it in copper embossing powder, and melted it with a heat tool. Then I lightly blended pastel Distress Inks over the images with sponge daubers, leaving some areas white for highlights, and fussy-cut them out with detail scissors.
After foiling a sentiment from the Thank You & Happy Birthday Glimmer Hot Foil Plate set in Copper Hot Foil onto some light blue pearl cardstock with my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine, I cut it out with one of the outer-edge-only dies in the Elegant Twist Circles Die set. I then cut the detail ring out of white pearl cardstock using the same die set and adhered it on top using liquid glue. Once I had popped the sentiment circle up on top of a simple card base created out of pale yellow and white shimmering cardstock, I finished the card off by nestling the shell images around the sentiment and adhering them down with foam adhesive.
The Mermaid Paper Doll Stamp & Die set is such a fun idea…you can stamp and die cut your own mermaid and piece her together just like a paper doll! I used just the mermaid’s tail for this clean and simple card, though, cutting the pieces out of light purple and shimmering pearl origami paper (you can find some on Amazon if you’re interested!) To create the waves that she’s splashing into, I cut three different shades of blue pearl cardstock with one of the dies from the Happy Little Dolphin die set and pieced and layered them up.
The sunset background was made from a leftover alcohol ink experiment I had done a while back…I just loved the pale colors and thought it worked nicely for this card! I added a simple sentiment foiled in Gold Hot Foil using the Yana’s Sentiments Hot Foil Plates and my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine to complete the card.
I hope you enjoyed these clean and beachy card projects and thanks so much for stopping by today. You can shop the Marvelous Mermaids Collection now and create your own fun summer projects!
