Love You Tons Card

My husband and I no longer really go overboard on Valentine’s Day, but I still think it’s a fun time to send cards to all of the kids in my family because they get a kick out of receiving happy mail during the lull after Christmas. I turned to the gorgeous Astrobright cardstocks from CutCardStock for this cute valentine that I’m planning to send my nephew.

Start by trimming a piece of Re-Entry Red cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″. Add a fun heart pattern to the panel with the Love Confetti 3D embossing folder (misting the cardstock lightly with water first can help prevent cracking when using 3D embossing folders).

To bring out all of that multi-layered dimension, I then lightly applied white pigment ink (same ink can be found here, just branded under a different name) over top of the entire embossed panel using a domed foam blending tool.  The domed blending tool works perfectly for smooth inking on embossed backgrounds without any harsh ink lines.

Die-cut a small circle out of Stardust White cardstock, emboss it using the same 3D folder, and lightly apply Worn Lipstick Distress ink over the die-cut for a similar look.  (Side note – if you’ve ever gotten frustrated because you don’t have the right size circle die or matting layer size for your project, I highly recommend buying the Circle Dies from The Stamp Doctor.  Almost every size you’d ever need is included in the All Circles Combo set for an amazing price, and then you can add stitching too!)

Create mat layers for the circle and background panel using Eclipse Black cardstock and adhere them together with tape runner. Add the background panel to a top-folding A2-sized card base made from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock.

Stamp the cute elephant image onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock, color it with Copic Markers, and die cut it out with the coordinating dies.

Stamp a punny sentiment (SSS) onto a strip of Eclipse Black cardstock in Versamark ink, add white embossing powder, and melt it with a heat tool.

Adhere the sentiment strip to the back of the circle panel and pop the whole thing up on top of the card using foam adhesive. Add the elephant image in the center of the circle using more foam adhesive.

I hope you enjoyed this cute Valentine’s Day card, and thanks so much for stopping by today. You can visit the CutCardstock store to purchase many of the supplies showcased today, and if you liked this project, please leave a comment below!
