Hi everyone! I’m excited to share another collection in the March release from Spellbinders today – the brand new Let’s Celebrate Collection by Yana Smakula (check out the rest of the March Release here…so much good stuff this month!). This collection contains gorgeous BetterPress plates, stencils, and dies that all work together to build elegant cards for various celebrations.
COLORFUL ANNIVERSARY CARD
There are so many beautiful pieces in this collection, it was hard to choose what to work with first, so I picked a couple of them! I used the Celebrate Flowers Registration Press Plate Set to ink the oversized sentiment in three different colors of BetterPress Ink – Tiger, Taffy, and Wild Berry (with a touch of Garnet tapped on top to deepen the Wild Berry just a bit). With so much color everywhere else, I just added the flowers into the sentiment with Thunder ink and pressed a couple of sub-sentiments with the same ink using the Let’s Celebrate Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set.
The background looks complicated but is super easy to create! I inked up the Peony Background Press Plate with the same three ink colors (in opposite order to create some contrast at the top and bottom of the card) and pressed it onto some Porcelain Cotton Cardstock. After matting my layers with Graphite Cardstock, I adhered everything together with foam adhesive.
PEONY MOTHER’S DAY CARD
Every time Yana releases a new floral bunch die, it becomes an instant favorite in my collection. The Peony Celebration Die Set is no exception! I cut the border of the flowers from Brushed Silver Cardstock, the petals from Pink Sand Cardstock, and the base from heavyweight vellum. After gluing the silver border on top of the vellum base, I added Picked Raspberry and Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink to each pink petal before inlaying it with liquid glue.
The background is actually a sneak peek at my new collection coming next month! I embossed a piece of white cardstock using the Leafy Helix Embossing Folder and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. After popping the peony cluster up in the center of the card, I added a sentiment from the Mother’s & Father’s Day Sentiments Press Plate Set and a couple of Crystal Mix Gems.
INK BLENDED BIRTHDAY CARD
Although the Floral Celebration Press Plate has a coordinating stencil, sometimes I just want a bright ink-blended background with a hint of texture. So, I applied Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the plate and then blended Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo, and Dried Marigold down the panel with a foam blending tool. After trimming the panel to 4″ x 5.25″, I mounted it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive.
The sentiment is from the Let’s Celebrate Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set and I foiled it in gold as well before cutting it out with the coordinating die. To finish off the card, I added a few tiny flowers and leaves from my Garden Builder Die Set.
