It’s another new challenge at the House-Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge Blog today, so head on over there if you’re interested in joining in the fun! The theme for this challenge is “Hey Pumpkin” and I’m thrilled to share a new inspiration piece with you as a guest designer with this fun group of crafters. A few weeks ago, I posted a pretty clean and simple card featuring the only HM “pumpkin” stamp I currently have (you can view that post here if you’d like even more inspiration). So, in an effort to avoid repetition, I got a little creative with my die-cutting today and incorporated “The Thinker” into a pumpkin farm scene:
I cut nearly all the extras on my card using my Silhouette Cameo…the pumpkins, squash, grass, and vines are all designs that you can find in the Silhouette Online Store (ID #’s listed below). To create a smooth background of sunflowers and a fence, I actually altered a few ready-made cut designs into a single print-n-cut shape using my Silhouette Studio software to colorize and arrange the shapes. The sentiment is stamped on a Jillibean Soup Label using Early Espresso ink from Stampin’ Up.
“The Thinker” was stamped twice on some white cardstock because I wanted to pop the little guy up over top of the very busy background to draw a little more attention to him. I colored the pot using Distress Inks and a Ranger Blending Tool, while the mouse and flower were colored with Prismacolor pencils followed by blending with baby oil. Lastly, the clouds were created by sponging Versamagic Cloud White chalk ink over a homemade stencil I cut from some cardstock with a couple of Sizzix dies.
Phew…that was a lot of explaining…my cards aren’t normally so involved, but once I started creating this scene I just couldn’t stop adding more elements! Consider it my “Ode to Autumn” and all of its colorful abundance…or something…
Thanks for stopping by and I’d love to hear any comments you may have!
