Hello again friends! I’m excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new Hexi-Gems Collection from Spellbinders. (Check out the entire May release here…so much good stuff!) This collection contains dies and Glimmer plates featuring a unique hexagonal shape as well as beautiful florals and sentiments. I used three of the new sets to create this elegant springtime birthday card, but be sure to check out the additional samples using this collection below.
I started by embossing a piece of Island Blue Cardstock with the Beautiful Butterflies 3D Embossing Folder, rubbing a white pigment ink pad over the raised areas to enhance the design, and matting the piece with Mirror Gold Cardstock before adhering it all to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Then I cut a fun frame out of Mirror Gold Cardstock using two consecutive dies from the Essential Hexi-Gems Die Set and popped it up in the center of the card. After applying Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the gorgeous Hexi-Gems Blooms Glimmer Plate, I colored it with Copic markers and cut it out with the coordinating die. The sentiment was foiled in Moondust Hot Foil using the Hexi-Gems Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and both were adhered in the center of the card with foam adhesive. A few Gold Mix Gems finish off this pretty and elegant card.
And here are three more projects I created with this fun collection!
- The first card uses the same Essential Hexi-Gems Die Set to create a gilded frame on top of the Leafy 3D Embossing Folder. I added flowers from my Garden Builder Die Set to the frame to create an elegant wreath and adhered the same sentiment from the Hexi-Gems Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set in the center.
- I love finding unique ways to stretch my dies, so I cut four Stitched Kaleidoscope Hexi-Gems and created a square focal point with them. The gold thread and vintage colors give this card a totally different feel!
- Lastly, I went simple and elegant with this fun foiled card. I used the Hexi-Gem Glimmer Plate to create a background shape with Moondust Foil and then added the floral bunch right on top with Opaque Black Hot Foil. A foiled sentiment and a mix of gems finishes off this easy card.
