Handmade Travel Journal

Oh, how I miss travel.  My husband and I used to plan at least two week-long trips every year that would take us all over this beautiful country…and then we had a baby.  For the record, it was totally worth it, but I can’t wait until it’s a little easier to travel with my son so we can get back to it!

It was my longing for a beach vacation that inspired this project…I figured I might as well be prepared for even the smallest of trips this summer with a handy little travel journal where I can sketch out inspiring views or jot down the places that I’ve already been, but can’t wait to introduce my little guy to.

The cover is simply a piece of kraft cardstock folded in half around a dozen or so sheets of sketching paper and secured with twine on the side.  To create the decorative scene, I stamped images from the “Seascapes” stamp set in Versamark Ink, heat embossed it in white, and colored it with Spectrum Aqua markers and a waterbrush.

“Travel” was spelled out in inked aqua cardstock using the new Leonie Pujol Typography dies coming to HSN tomorrow from Crafter’s Companion.  I had so much fun mixing the letter types to create a unique title for my journal (every letter comes in four different fonts for infinite possibilities!).

Are you excited for the 24-hour Craft Event starting at midnight?
