Halloween Card using the SSS October Card Kit

I’ve seen a lot of pretty autumn cards using the tree stamp from the Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit, but I like to take some of my Halloween cards to a slightly darker place:

I love the patterned papers from the “Into the Woods” collection from Lawn Fawn but needed to tone it down for this card, so I turned this pretty birch tree background into a nighttime scene using “Dusty Concord” Distress Ink and a Ranger blending tool.  Then I created a spooky branch border by stamping the top of the tree stamp from the “Giving Thanks” stamp set (SSS) around the edge of the paper, constantly varying the angle, using Versafine Onyx Black ink…and added a couple of the birds from the same set as well.
The sentiment is computer generated and cut out using the Deco Labels framelits from Sizzix/Stampin’ Up.  I inked the edges with a metallic marker from American Crafts, added an acorn from the “Giving Thanks” set with Hero Arts Shadow Ink in “Silver”, and popped it up in the center of the card.

The sentiment inside is also computer generated, but since my printer won’t accept the super heavy Neenah cardstock that I like to use for card bases, I had to punch it out using my EK Success Ticket Punch and pop it up inside.
Thanks for stopping by and I’d love to hear any comments you may have!
I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
