With less than six months left to get your holiday cards ready for mailing, we’re celebrating Christmas in July over at Rubbernecker Stamps. I was playing with some of the new stencils in the store and the Swirls Stencil reminded me of a quirky version of Christmas starlight mints so I created a fun background pattern for a card first. Gnomes seemed like the obvious choice to add to a quirky card! Here I’ve used them together to create a bright and fun card perfect for sending warm holiday wishes.
- Stamp a couple of gnomes from the Garden Gnomes Stamp Set onto white cardstock using black alcohol-friendly ink.
- Color the images in with Copic markers and cut them out using the coordinating dies.
- Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4.125″ x 5.375″ and secure the Swirls Stencil over top.
- Blend Crimson Ink onto the panel using a blending brush. I knew I would be covering up the center of the panel, so I concentrated on adding color mostly to the edges.
- Die cut white cardstock with the largest die from the Nested Scallop with Holes Die Set.
- Stamp the sentiment from the Holly Circle Gnome Sentiment Stamp Set in the top right corner of the die cut panel using Basil Ink.
- Die cut green and red cardstock using the Holly #1 Die. (In the end, I used red pearls as my berries, but the die-cut berries are a great option if you don’t have the right color pearls!)
- Cut the largest holly die-cut into two pieces and shape the leaves by holding it along the vein line with tweezers and bending the sides up.
- Mat the stenciled background panel with green cardstock before adhering it to the front of a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.
- Mount the stamped sentiment panel on top using foam adhesive.
- Adhere the gnomes to the bottom left corner with more foam adhesive.
- Arrange the holly leaves in the corners of the card and adhere with liquid glue.
- Add red pearls to the holly as berries to embellish.
