Hi everyone and happy first day of Fall! In honor of my favorite season, today I wanted to share a quick tutorial to make this glittery autumn décor project using one of the new wood shapes and a gorgeous farmhouse stencil from the Clear Scraps shop.
I started by giving the Jumbo Wood Tags Rounded shape a quick sanding with my sanding sponge. Then, I applied two coats of Vanilla Bean acrylic paint over the entire tag. Once dry, I roughly sanded the piece with my sanding sponge, concentrating the heaviest pressure around the edges and in random small areas elsewhere for a distressed look.
Next, I centered the Hello Fall stencil on top of my tag and secured it on two sides with some painters tape. I carefully applied Red Velvet, Sweet Mango, and Gold Glitz Glitter gel through the stencil with my Stencil Pal (super helpful for big projects like this!), mixing the colors a bit where they overlapped, for a fun rainbow effect. Once I had finished applying the gel, I immediately removed the stencil and washed it gently with warm, soapy water.
The tag comes with a rustic twine rope to use for hanging, but I chose to thread some fall plaid ribbon (Michaels) through the shape instead and tie a simple bow in the front to the secure it.
Although a relatively simple project, I love how the thick, beautiful font used on the stencil looks with the brightly colored glitter. The new tag shapes are the perfect size to use with any of the Farmhouse stencils in the Clear Scraps shop, so which one would you choose?
