Fishing You All The Best Card

Masculine cards can be tough sometimes.  With all of the crafty tools and embellishments on my bench, it can take a lot of restraint not to use them all on the latest card I’m making.  Having a great focal image makes the process almost effortless, though, because you aren’t tempted to overthink or over-embellish.  I thought the Ralph Fishing image would make the perfect card for one of the outdoorsy men in my life!

THE FOCAL IMAGE

  •  Stamp the Ralph Fishing image onto white cardstock using Copic-friendly ink.
  •  Color the image with Copic markers using the following 3-4 marker blends:
    • Khakis, Vest, and Hat: E53, E55, E57, E59
    • Shirt: R35, R37, R89
    • Waders and Bag: YG93, YG95, YG97, YG99
    • Fish: BV01, BV02, BV04, BV08
    • Water: BG000, BG01, BG45, BG05
    •  Fishing Pole: E95, E97, E99, E59
    •  Hair and Fishing Reel: C0, C2, C4, C6
    •  Skin: E00, E01, E11, E13
  •  Die cut the image out using the coordinating die.

THE BACKGROUND PANEL

THE SENTIMENT

  •  Stamp a sentiment from the Under The Sea stamp set onto red cardstock using Versamark Ink.
  •  Add white embossing powder and melt with a heat tool.
  •  Die-cut the sentiment out using the smallest die from the Deckle Rectangle Dies set.  First, position the die so that it cradles the top and right sides of the sentiment and run through your die-cutting machine.  Then, position the same die over the die-cut cradling the bottom and left side of the sentiment and run through your die-cutting machine again.  As long as your sentiment is a little smaller than the square or rectangular die you’re using, you can use this method to add a custom-sized decorative edge around any sentiment.

CARD ASSEMBLY

  •  Create a top-folding card base out of white cardstock that measures 4.375″ x 5.625″ when folded (1/8″ larger in both length and width than a typical A2-sized card).
  •  Trim a piece of olive green cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and adhere to the card base using tape runner.
  •  Adhere the wicker background panel on top of the olive green cardstock using foam adhesive.
  •  Adhere the sentiment panel in the top left corner of the card using tape runner.
  •  Pop the die-cut and colored Ralph Fishing image up in the lower right corner.

I hope you enjoyed this fun masculine card project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to check out Rubbernecker Stamps on Instagram or visit their Facebook Fan Group for tons of inspiration!
