Happy first day of summer! In honor of long days and warm temperatures, I’m sharing a nautical-inspired card made with the new Elegant Twist Collection by Becca Feeken from Spellbinders. This collection features a gorgeous rope-like pattern in several different shapes of layering die sets, plus a fun Glimmer hot foil plate set to use along with them. I chose deep blue, white, and rose gold as my color scheme to create this pretty maritime hello card.
CREATING THE BACKGROUND
- Trim a piece of blue cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″.
- Die cut each corner of the cardstock using the ornate corner die from the Splendid Trilliant die set.
- Apply Blush Hot Foil across the center of the panel using the two border dies from the Borders & Sentiment Foil Plates set and a Glimmer Hot Foil Machine.
CREATING THE FLOWER CLUSTER
- Die cut Shimmery Pink and White Pearl Linen cardstock with the flower cluster die from the Floral Oval Die Set.
- Die cut Shimmery Mint cardstock with the large floral swag die from the Floral Oval Die Set. Trim the leafy branches off the ends of the die-cut and discard the rest.
- Shape each petal of each flower layer from the backside using a medium ball stylus and a circular motion.
- Turn the die-cut over and press in the center using a smaller ball stylus and a circular motion to pop the petals upward.
CREATING THE FOCAL POINT
- Die cut rose gold cardstock (a perfect match for the Blush Hot Foil!) with the main die from the Splendid Trilliant Die Set. Die cut the same cardstock using the corner die from the set four times. Trim the foldover mechanism from the four corner die-cuts so that only the ornate triangles remain.
- Foil the sentiment from the Borders & Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set onto white cardstock using Blush Hot Foil and a Glimmer Hot Foil Machine. Die cut the sentiment out using the label die from the Splendid Trilliant Die Set.
- Adhere the sentiment to the large rose gold die-cut with foam adhesive, then arrange the leafy branches and flowers around it and adhere them down with strong liquid glue.
CARD ASSEMBLY
- Adhere the rose gold corner die-cuts to the corners of the blue background panel using liquid glue.
- Pop the background panel up on top of a top-folding A2-sized white card base using foam adhesive.
- Adhere the die-cut focal point to the center of the card with foam adhesive.
