Today is release day for the Downton Abbey Papercrafting Collection over at Crafter’s Companion and I wanted to share a couple of projects I made with some of the elements. The first is a pretty tea bag dispenser…a great gift for any tea drinkers in your life or just a fun way to store tea on your own countertop. While I love the smell of coffee, I generally avoid caffeinated drinks so I never touch the stuff. Tea is my morning drink of choice, and what’s better than “official Downton Abbey” tea? 🙂
The full tutorial to make this project is available on the Crafter’s Companion blog…I hope you’ll go take a look!
Next, I made a graduation card for a friend of mine who was a huge fan of the show. Using the medal image from one of the clear stamp sets, I stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black ink onto watercolor paper and colored it with just two of my Spectrum Aqua markers – Fawn and Teal. Then, I cut and embossed the gorgeous “Gilt Frame” using super gold metallic cardstock to frame the image nicely.
The gold frame matched the foiling on my patterned paper perfectly (sometimes things just work out I guess!), so I popped it up on top with foam squares after matting the background with brown cardstock. A gold foiled sentiment from one of the die-cut toppers sets was all I needed to finish off this simple card.
My card isn’t overtly “Downton Abbey”, so I think I could get away with sending this to anyone who enjoys a vintage-y style. It’ll be interesting to see if my friend notices though… Thanks so much for stopping by today!
