Welcome back friends! I’m excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new De-Light-Ful Christmas Collection by Yana Smakula from Spellbinders. (Check out the BRAND NEW August release here…so much beautiful stuff!) This collection is full of gorgeous holiday Glimmer plates, a versatile embossing folder, and even a beautiful poinsettia die set. I used some of the products from the collection to create three pretty foiled cards perfect for sending a holiday hello.
FROSTY JOYFUL HOLLY CARD
I love a big, bold sentiment as a focal point and the Joyful Glimmer Hot Foil Plate Set is such an elegant and beautiful one! Here I applied Matte Silver Hot Foil to white cardstock using the words from the set and then added the foliage around it using Cobalt Hot Foil for a frosty look. I colored the holiday foliage with Copic markers, adding red berries for a pop of color.
The background was created by applying Matte Silver Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Glimmer Holly Background Hot Foil Plate. Once foiled, I blended Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink down the panel for a pretty ombre look. To assemble the card, I trimmed the sentiment panel down to 2.75″ x 5.5″, matted it with Mirror Silver Cardstock measuring 3″ x 5.5″, and popped it up on top of the background panel with foam adhesive.
MERRY FOILED HOLLY CARD
Next I wanted to use that beautiful background image as my focal point, so I applied Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Glimmer Holly Background Foil Plate. To add the color, I blended a wide variety of green Distress Inks through the coordinating Layered Glimmer Holly Stencil Set. Since the stencil is made to leave a little artistic white space on the image, I colored the background spaces with a dark blue Copic marker to bring out the design even more.
To assemble the card, I added a thick strip of gold vellum from my stash around the background panel before securing it down to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. Then I added a beautiful sentiment from the A Merry Little Christmas Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set and a handful of Red Mix Gems.
GILDED POINSETTIA CARD
Lastly, I wanted to combine a couple more products from the collection to create this simple and pretty poinsettia card. I started by adding a sentiment from the A Merry Little Christmas Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set in Gold Hot Foil to the bottom of a panel of Fern Cardstock. After embossing the top portion of the panel with the Holly & Foliage 3D Embossing Folder, I rubbed a light amount of gold gilding wax over the raised areas to bring them out a bit more.
I cut the poinsettia out of white and Mirror Gold Cardstock using the Poinsettia Bloom Die Set. The white die-cuts were inked with Festive Berries, Lumberjack Plaid, and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink before inlaying them into the gold die-cut. I adhered all of this to a shadow layer cut from Fern Cardstock and popped it up in the middle of the card, embellishing with couple Fashion Poppy Pearls.
