Welcome to a new week everyone! I’m excited to share a few projects today made with the new Dancin’ Watercolor Celebration Collection from Spellbinders (you can check out the rest of the March Release here…so much gorgeous stuff this month!). This collection is a unique one – it contains just two packs of stunningly beautiful watercolor die-cuts that are perfect for easy celebration cards. The die-cuts seemed to coordinate perfectly with some of the gorgeous new paper packs from Paper Rose that are now being sold in the Spellbinders shop, so I used them both to create four colorful cards for a variety of occasions.
DANCING SPRING FLOWERS CARD
In addition to being printed on high-quality cardstock, many of the beautiful watercolor illustrations in these packs come in two forms – a single piece (normal die-cut) or two pieces with legs that can swing back and forth when attached using a single foam square (similar to the other “Dancin'” die sets that have been released in the past). I chose a couple of die-cuts from the Dancin’ Watercolor Celebrations pack to create this colorful spring card with a fun dancing element.
The background is just a pretty sheet of patterned paper from the Rainbow Wood 6×6 Paper Pack that I trimmed to 4″ x 5.25″ and adhered to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. To finish off this ultra-simple card, I just added the die-cuts on top with more foam adhesive.
DREAMY WATERCOLOR BIRTHDAY CARD
Next I thought the colors on this pretty birthday cake die-cut were so dreamy, I decided to add her to an even dreamier background. After diecutting a piece of patterned paper from the Rainbow Twirl 6×6 Paper Pack with one of the Notched Corner Frames Die Set, I tapped some Splatter White Opaque Watercolor over the panel to give it even more texture. Once dry, I matted it with Onyx Cardstock and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.
I popped the birthday cake die-cut (this time, a single-piece version) up on top of the card front with foam adhesive. To finish off the card, I pressed one of the sentiments from the You Are Everything Sentiments Plate Set onto Porcelain Cotton Cardstock with BetterPress Black Ink, cut it out with the coordinating die, and popped it up over her legs.
HELLO FALL CARD
The collection also contains some gorgeous die-cuts for fall and winter celebrations in the Dancin’ Watercolor Holidays pack. I loved this beautiful girl with the autumn bouquet and thought she paired perfectly with a piece of patterned paper from the Mountain Trek 2.0 6×6 Paper Pack.
To add some more color, I die-cut white cardstock using one of the Essential Arches Dies and then blended Ripe Persimmon, Carved Pumpkin, and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink up from the bottom before splattering a little of the same ink over the piece for texture. Then I just stacked everything up on top of a white card base using tons of foam adhesive.
SWEET CHRISTMAS TREE CARD
Lastly, I couldn’t get over how sweet this Christmas tree die-cut from the Dancin’ Watercolor Holidays pack was, so I found the perfect patterned paper with a mountain cottage and pine forest from the Mountain Trek 2.0 Paper Pack to add as her background. After adhering the paper to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive, I popped a piece of vellum up over most of the scene so that you can still see the beautiful background, but it doesn’t draw too much attention away from the focal point.
I adhered the legs to the card front with a single foam square before adding the body and sentiment die-cuts on top to allow the girl to “dance”. I love how simple, yet beautiful this card turned out with just a few die-cuts and a gorgeous printed background!
