Happy Friday friends! I’m excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new Dancin’ Halloween Collection from Spellbinders. (Check out the entire August release here…so much good stuff this month!) This collection consists of three interactive die sets that help you build these super cute dancing characters as well as some coordinating punny sentiments. I used the entire collection to create three easy cards perfect for sending a cute hello next month!
DANCIN’ DAY OF THE DEAD BOY CARD
I thought this whole collection was beyond cute and wanted to build each character separately for his or her own card. I started with the Dancin’ Day Of The Dead Boy Die Set and cut him out of colors of cardstocks (listed below) inspired by the movie Coco (my kids love this movie!). After assembling the two main pieces with liquid glue, I set him aside while embossing a piece of Rainforest Cardstock with the Tile Reflection 3D Embossing Folder.
Once my card base was ready, I added the little guy to the front with foam adhesive, allowing his legs to move freely back and forth by only attaching them with a single small adhesive foam circle within the loop mechanism of the die-cut. To finish off the card, I stamped a cute sentiment from the Dancin’ Halloween Sentiments Stamp Set and adhered it beneath him with foam adhesive.
DANCIN’ DAY OF THE DEAD GIRL CARD
Next, I created a bright and cheerful birthday card using the Dancin’ Day of the Dead Girl Die Set. After cutting her from the same colors of cardstock as the boy, I once again assembled the head and body with liquid glue and set them aside separately. I love how Spellbinders came up with fun sentiments to use with these characters for more than just Halloween and Day of the Dead cards!
To create the background, I embossed Glacier Cardstock using the Floating Balloons 3D Embossing Folder and blended a little Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the edges for some depth. Then I embossed another sentiment from the Dancin’ Halloween Sentiments Stamp Set onto Rainforest Cardstock in white and cut it out using the Color Block Scenic Scape Die Set. Once I had arranged all of my elements on the card front, I added a couple of the tiny colorful blooms from the set around the scene.
DANCIN’ GRIM REAPER CARD
Lastly, I made this fun Halloween shaker card using the Dancin’ Grim Die Set. After cutting him out of mostly Royal Amethyst Cardstock, I set out to create a truly fun card front for him to dance on top of. First, I took the Spider Web Background BetterPress Plate and the sentiments from the Halloween Icons Press Plate & Die Set and foiled them in Prism Hot Foil onto Onyx Cardstock.
I then added the foiled background to an A2 Full Background Shaker Cover, and dumped a bunch of Boo! Sparkletz inside before sealing it completely shut. This creates a fun full-card shaker element that I added to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. To finish off the card, I added the grim reaper and sentiment to the front of the shaker pocket with foam adhesive.
