Dancin’ Christmas Collection from Spellbinders

Hello again friends!  I’m excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new Dancin’ Christmas Collection from Spellbinders.  (Check out the rest of the September release here…so much amazing stuff this month!)  This collection contains four adorable die sets that create characters with moving legs plus a coordinating sentiment stamp set and a beautiful embossing folder.  I used all of the products in the collection to create four sweet cards perfect for sending a fun, interactive Christmas hello!

DANCIN’ PENGUIN CARD

I loved all of the adorable characters in the collection so much, it was hard to pick which one to work with first!  But this little penguin stole my heart, so I cut him out of various patterned paper and cardstock using the Dancin’ Penguin Die Set and inked some of the edges for dimension before assembling him with liquid glue.

To create the background, I matted some pretty patterned paper with Mirror Gold Cardstock before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base.  Then I cut Glacier Cardstock with one of the Essential Arches Dies and embossed it with the Flurry of Snowflakes 3D Embossing Folder.  To create the snowy hill, I stamped one of the sentiments from the Dancin’ Christmas Sentiment Stamp Set onto white cardstock and cut it out with the Color Block Scenic Scape Die Set.  Once I had added my snowy scene to the card with foam adhesive, I popped the cute penguin on top with more foam adhesive, allowing his legs to rock freely.

DANCIN’ FIGGY PUDDING

And how adorable is this little guy…I’ve never had figgy pudding, but I just want to eat him up!  I cut this cute character out of traditional Christmas colors using the Dancin’ Figgy Pudding Die Set and added some shading to the elements with Distress Ink and sponge daubers.  Although it’s difficult to see in the photographs, I did add glossy lacquer to the icing for some shine before assembling everything.

The background was created by applying Gold Hot Foil to Pink Sand Cardstock using the Pine Sprays Glimmer Plate.  I trimmed the panel down to 4″ x 5.25″ and added it to my card base with foam adhesive before embossing a matching sentiment from the Dancin’ Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set in gold.  To finish off the card, I just added the figgy pudding and sentiment to the card front with foam adhesive.

DANCIN’ & GIFTIN’ MOUSE CARD

This next character (Dancin’ & Giftin’ Mouse Die Set) has tons of possibilities because there are interchangeable dies to dress him for different seasons and you could put really anything in his little hand!  I used some patterned paper from my stash to add a couple of extra textures to my card, but overall, kept my mouse looking like a Christmas mouse.  (You can give him loafers instead of boots, and give him a turtleneck/leave the scarf off for even more looks!)

To create the background, I trimmed a piece of Waterfall Cardstock to 4″ x 5.5″ and embossed a sentiment from the Dancin’ Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set in white along the bottom edge.  Then I dry embossed the top portion of the panel using the new Monoline Stars Embossing Folder, blended some Salty Ocean Distress Ink around the edges, and matted it with Cosmic Sky Cardstock before adhering it to my white card base.  I love how cute this turned out!

DANCIN’ GINGERBREAD SHAKER CARD

Dancing cards not your thing?  Sometimes I just glue the figure together completely and add them to a fun card base instead!  Here I cut my cute Dancin’ Gingerbread out of Dune, Pink Sand, Pomegranate, and Waterfall cardstock before adding some deep shading with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to make them look cooked.  Then I stamped a quick sentiment from the Dancin’ Christmas Sentiments Stamp Set onto white cardstock using brown ink and trimmed it out into a strip.

To create the shaker, I die cut Timber Cardstock with an oval die before embossing it with the Tiny Dots Embossing Folder and adding a piece of acetate to the back.  After adding some foam adhesive around the window and snowflake/star confetti inside (sorry, I don’t know where these are from…I probably got them in a kit at some point!) I closed the shaker up with a piece of cute gingerbread house patterned paper from my stash.  Once mounted on a white card base, I simply popped the sentiment and gingerbread men up on top to complete the card.
